Mary Heil
Mary had been a “friend” of swimming in Arkansas since 1969. For over 10 years she was known as the “bull pen lady.” She was Clerk of Course for swim meets before that term was widely used in Arkansas. She attended and helped conduct hundreds of swim meets as her nine children all swam competitively for the Little Rock Racquet Club. Mary had served on the Arkansas Swimming hall of Fame Committee since its inception. IN 1989, she was the recipient of the Phillips 66 Community Service Award. She had also served as co-director of several Regions VIII meets and the first central Zone meet held in Arkansas.
