Mary Kay Fitzgerald
Mary Kay began swimming in 1972 at the YWCA in downtown Little Rock under Mary Lou Jaworski. In 1974 she switched to the Little Rock Racquet Club and swam for Kees Oudegeest, Bob Teichert, Robin White and Paul Blair. She also swam for Mount Saint Mary Academy. She swam in College for Gary Kempf at the University of Kansas, where she was team captain her junior and senior years. Her many honors and awards include: Region VIII qualifier, Rose Lindsey Memorial Award, Gary Schultz Memorial Award, Junior Olympic Qualifier. AIAW Division 1 qualifier, MCAA Division 1 qualifier, member of the KU Big 8 Conference Championship team 1980-1983, 4-time AIAW Division All-America. In 1998 she was included into the University of Kansas Hall of Fame. She has also been a member of Arkansas Masters Swimming Club for over 10 years.
