Sande Southerland

Started swimming in Jackson, MS. He swam for the Arkansas Dolphins from age 12 through college. Sande was the 13-14 State Champion in the 50 Free, 100 Free and 100 Butterfly and was the State High School Championship in the 100 Fly. In 1985 Sande was a member of the two relay teams that set Junior National Records. He placed 6th in the 50 Freestyle at Junior National Records. He qualified for Nationals in 1986 and was a member of the 400 Free Relay that finished 2nd. He swam for the University of Arkansas under Coached Kent Kirchner and Martin Smith where he was an All-American in the 200 Medley Relay his senior year.
