The Senior program at WSC generally involves swimmers 13 years and older. WSC enables swimmers to realize their potential by having an atmosphere geared toward competitive swimming success. Practices are based on well-established methods of advanced swimming training as well as cutting edge new ideas. All of our squads seek a blend of fun, technique, and training and the Senior and National Squads are no different. However, the primary focus is on improving swimmers to the boundaries of their talent and helping WSC become the best team we are capable of being.
The Varsity Squad is designed for those swimmers in 8th grade and up that are looking to prepare for High School swimming. This squad practices 4 days per week and swimmers pick their level of commitment. This squad is session based and runs in three sessions during the school year: Fall, Winter, and Spring. The squad will work on the basics of swimming technique and progress to practices that challenge the swimmer to build endurance and work on race strategies. Swimmers in this squad who wish to participate in meets may purchase a USA Swimming card as an option.
Senior is designed for those swimmers looking to continue to improve in their swimming and geared towards preparing them for the National Prep squad. Senior practices are 2 hours long and are offered 6 days per week. This group will continue to work on swimming fundamentals, but will focus on building endurance with an increased emphasis on yardage, as is appropriate for each swimmer’s ability. Swimmers may advance from Senior to National Prep. While there are no specific practice and meet attendance requirements for Senior, swimmers wishing to move up to National Prep must be meeting the minimum requirements for National Prep in regards to practice/meet attendance (5 practices a week and regular/seasonal meet participation).
