SWIM INSTRUCTOR AIDE PROGRAM
Our Swim
Instructor Aide program provides training for individuals who
desire to learn the skills of swim instruction for
children. This course will help you perfect your swimming
strokes and become a knowledgeable swim instructor
aide. This Summer we are offering a single evening
course at the beginning of the summer session.
Prerequisite: Individuals who are 13
years or older who exhibit a strong sense of maturity and
responsibility. Additionally, students must be able to
demonstrate all skills listed as completion requirements through
level #8 of the SwimAmerica lesson
program. Student volunteers must wear a solid navy
one-piece swimsuit or swim trunks and bring a nutritious snack and
lunch daily.
JUNIOR LIFEGUARD ‘GUARD
START’ PROGRAM

The American Red Cross ‘Guard
Start’ Program is available for youth ages 11 to 14 years old
who have the desire to learn about the responsibilities and duties
of a lifeguard. This program will help build a foundation of
knowledge, attitudes, and skills to become a future
lifeguard. Instruction will include prevention, fitness,
response, leadership, professionalism and swimming skill
development. ‘Guard Start’ is NOT a
lifeguard training class.
The goal of our program is to provide the youth of
our community with a sound aquatic background and acquaint them
with the opportunities and rewards of being a
lifeguard.
INTRODUCTION TO
SYNCHRONIZED SWIMMING

Synchronized Swimming is an excellent activity
for girls desiring to improve their aquatic skills. The
introductory program is designed to gradually and systematically
teach the basic skills of Synchronized Swimming. No previous
Synchronized swimming experience is required. The class
project will be to develop the skills necessary to perform in a
basic synchronized swimming water show. Classes are 60 minutes
each. Girls from 10 to 14 years old. All participants will
receive a team t-shirt and swim cap.
Prerequisite: Swimmers must be deep water
safe, able to swim freestyle with side breathing, be comfortable in
deep water and submerging while holding their
breath.
