What you
can expect when your child begins competing in
meets?
Before the meet: Please take a few minutes to sign
the Attend Meet Confirmation Form and return it to your
child’s coach before the date assigned.
If you sign “yes” and then your child will not be able
to attend a meet for which you have been entered, it is your
responsibility to pay all meet entry fees for your swimmer. Note
that once the meet entries are sent to the host team, you are
responsible for your swimmer’s meet entries fees, even if
your child is unable to attend due to unforeseen circumstances
(e.g. sickness).
Please remember that swim meet entries are due at least two weeks
prior to the meet date therefore, all scratches must be notified to
your coach before the due date for registration of the swimmer. If
you have not paid the swim meet entries or cancel the participation
in that meet and the due date for registration has passed, then
your swimmer will not be registered.
Attending the meet: We suggest the following
items
-Two pairs of goggles
-Two Team swim caps
-A towel for swimmer (or two)
-Highlighter
-Healthy snacks (grapes, apples, bananas, etc) and water
-Chair (for your swimmer, a chair for Mom and/or Dad is a good
idea).
Heat Sheets: We recommend that all parents
purchase a heat sheet upon their arrival at the swim meet. The heat
sheet is a list of each meet event in the order in which they will
occur, with each heat and lane assignment.
The coaches are very busy at a meet. They are focused on watching
the swimmers compete. They cannot be responsible for ensuring that
each swimmer is at the starting blocks on time.
After each event, swimmers should see their coach for some quick
feedback on their swims. After swimming, it is necessary for
swimmers to cool down.
