The Bolles School - The
Bolles School is a private college preparatory school with an
international reputation for excellence. Located in Jacksonville,
Florida, the school enrolls more than 1,800 boarding and day
students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. Bolles focuses on a
complete education that emphasizes excellence in academics, the
arts, athletics and other activities like clubs and community
service. Students can pursue their interests and learn to balance a
rich variety of activities. Our rigorous programs prepare students
for future success, and 100 percent of our graduating seniors go on
to college. Our
students also learn the importance of self-discipline, respect,
personal responsibility and compassion. These values, outlined in
the Bolles Honor Code, are vital to campus life.
The
Bolles Sharks swimming program facilitates training and stroke
instruction in Bolles’ 50-meter (Uible Pool) and 25-yard pool
(Lobrano Pool), as well as the Cassidy Aquatic Fitness Center with
dry land and weight training
equipment.
Uible
Pool - John D. (Jack) and Mary Jane Uible’s donation of the
50-meter by 25-yard Uible pool to the Bolles School helped propel
the Bolles program into an international powerhouse. Five
years after their 1991 donation some 26 athletes trained at
the pool in preparation for the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta,
Georgia. The Bolles High School swimming team, both boys and
girls, has won every single state championship since the
Uible’s generous donation. The pool is host to some of
Florida’s biggest meets, including the annual Bolles Classic.
It is also switched to a 25 yard, 19 lane course for the fall high
school season.
Lobrano
Pool - The Lobrano Pool was donated to the Bolles School in 1966 by
the Lobrano Family, in memory of Thomas Lobrano. The pool has been
home to dozens of Olympians dating back to the 1972 Munich Games
and has been the training pool for many of
Florida’s fastest swimmers. The 25-yard, eight lane pool
features a diving well with two 1-meter springboards. The
blue-tiled pool is typically used for training only, with 25-yard
high school and U.S.S. meets held in the adjacent Uible
Pool.
Cassidy
Aquatic Fitness Center - The Cassidy Aquatics Fitness Center is the hub
of activity for the Bolles Sharks Program. The generous donation of
Mr. and Mrs. Andrew B. Cassidy in 1998, the Aquatics Center
features administrative offices plus an air-conditioned space for
all dry-land activities. The rubberized floor in the dry-land room
is ideal for abdominal training, throwing medicine balls, jumping
rope, and weight training. The Aquatics Center also doubles as a
concessions stand and officials headquarters during swim
meets.
