About our Instructors
What sets our instructors apart from the rest is simple: Fleet
First Instructors truly enjoy teaching water safety and stroke
technique. We have very high expectations for our instructors as
they are enthusiastic and self motivated. Each instructor goes
though extensive training to prepare them to teach children and
adults of all ages and levels.
Qualifications Include:
- At least 16 years of age
- Have working knowledge of all four competitive strokes
- Must be reliable, consistent and responsible
- Enjoy working with children and of all ages and levels
- Excellent communication skills, professional and a team player
- Have a flexible schedule
Certifications Required Include:
- American Red Cross Standard First Aid
- American Red Cross CPR/AED for Adult, Child, and Infant
And must have one of the following:
- American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (r.04)
- American Red Cross Lifeguarding (r.07)
- American Red Cross Safety Training for Swim Coaches (r.07)
Upon hiring, new instructors are expected to complete an internship
of 40 to 50 hours under one of our lead instructors to learn the
"Fleet First" methods. in the water! Our instructors are reliable,
responsible and have excellent communication skills.
