Evolution of a North Aquatic Shark
Great White Sharks:
The main focus is continuous refinement of swimming stroke, diving, turns, and relay starts. Freestyle and backstroke are the main strokes, although breaststroke and butterfly are introduced and worked on.
Swimmers in the Silver group will work on all four strokes, refinement of strokes, starts and turns, endurance, race strategy, competitive skills and the understanding of time standards. Swimmers will start to understand pace, how to swim on sendoffs, and the understanding of time standards are introduced at this level.
A hybrid of silver and purple. Swimmers that can handle a workout similar to that of purple sharks but because of their age, less yardage.
Swimmers in the purple group are in a transition to get ready to move to the level of the gold group. The main focus will be more yards, faster send-offs and refinement of swimming stroke. Swimmers at this level are expected to start making a commitment to the sport and to prepare to move into the longer practice time and difficultly of the next level.
Swimmers in the Gold group have developed the ability to train at a greater volume and intensity and have established a consistency in training that reflects a commitment to the program. Swimmers are expected to compete in the highest level competition.
