Your Help Needed
for "Night at the Races"
SOLON,
Ohio - As you have seen posted at the pool and
here on our website, the Solon Stars Swim Club will be hosting
a "Night at the Races " event on XXXXXXXX at the Solon Valley Party
Center (Knights of Columbus Hall) on Melbury Avenue in Solon
Plans are well underway to make this a fun evening for our Stars
parents and their friends, including food catered by the Chicago
Deli of Solon, beverages, auctions, horse races, prizes, and
general fun! We are looking for additional volunteers to
help make this event a success for our club.
Horse
Sponsorships and Race Naming: Sell naming rights
for horses and races. If you know an individual or
organization that would like to sponsor a race ($100) or name a
horse for your favorite swimmer ($20), please contact Rich

Betting
Windows and Side Boards: Volunteers to support
betting windows and side boards at the event as well as the silent
auction. We need support for the following:
SHIFT 1-set-up [5:00
- 6:00] NEED 3
volunteers
SHIFT 2-side boards only
[6:00 - 7:00] NEED 6
volunteers
SHIFT 3-racing [7:00 -
8:00] NEED 8
volunteers
SHIFT 4-racing [8:00 -
9:00] NEED 11
volunteers
SHIFT 5-racing [9:00 –
10:00] NEED 11 volunteers
SHIFT 6-silent
auction/sideboards [10:00-] NEED 2
volunteers
Please contact Suzanne Sharkus at ssharkus@waxmanind.com indicate
which shift you would be willing to support and if there is any
position you prefer (betting window, side board, silent auction
set-up). We already have 3 “SuperStarsý but really
need our parents to support the betting windows and side
boards.
Racing
Program: We need a volunteer to organize
and prepare content for the racing program to be printed by FedEx
Kinkos in Solon. If you can assist in this effort, please
contact Rich Iler at or 440-546-3867.
Reservations: Make your
reservations now for our event on April 25,
2009. Contact

cathylaut@roadrunner.com as soon as possible.
Silent Auction
Donations: Secure donations of good/services for the
silent auction. We have received a number of valuable
items already and plan to create a booklet prior to the event so
you know what to bid on. If you have an item to donate or
know someone who would be willing to donate an item, please contact
Rich Iler.
