  • All practices are voluntary, but the greatest possible participation is encouraged.
  • Check the LMRT Team Calendar & bring equipment for both. (Registered members must be signed in to view the "Team Calendar" section of the website.  LMRT practices will follow the calendar as much as possible.
  • Conditions and other factors may change however, and athletes are encouraged to bring both GS and SL equipment to each practice.
  • Coaches will post the final details for the session (e.g. the training trail, etc.) on the LMRT bulletin board (located on your right when exiting the locker room)..
  • On weekends, athletes meet coaches for morning practice in the main locker room 10 minutes before practice starts ready to hit the snow.
  • For afternoon sessions, athletes meet coaches on the snow in front of the lodge at 11:45AM.
  • Athletes are encouraged to eat a good breakfast and to dress for the weather.  Hand warmers are encouraged for cold days.
  • All athletes are expected to inspect courses before running them for safety and training purposes. They are also expected to assist with side-slipping afterwards.
  • Lunch breaks are 45 minutes and athletes meet in the Cafeteria on the second floor of the lodge to eat as a group.  Athletes are encouraged to eat a well balanced meal that is low in sugar and caffeine.
  • Parents should be available to meet athletes early in the event of bad weather, an emergency or other situation.
  • If parents need to pick up an athlete early, please make arrangements to meet the coach at a designated time.

Early-Start Practices

  • Occasionally, LMRT coaches will make arrangements to set gates prior to the normal practice time to train on special terrain or provide better practice conditions.
  • In these situations, older LMRT athletes will be given the opportunity to start practice prior to lift openings.
  • Members will be notified in advance of any early start practices via email.

Weather

  • We practice rain or shine. As long as the mountain is open, LMRT will provide training.
  • A forecast for poor weather usually turns away skiers and leaves the entire mountain for those who show up.
  • These can be great training days!  Dress for the weather and maximize your opportunities.

Equipment

  • Helmets are required for all Giant Slalom practices.
  • No other special equipment is necessary. However, check the equipment page for information on optional equipment and other recommendations from coaches.
  • Liberty Mountain offers larger storage lockers for season-long rentals.  Availability is limited so contact the mountain early.
