Skiers ages 7 to 11 years interested in becoming a member of the Liberty Mountain Racing Team (LMRT) are welcome to participate in one of our weekend trial clinics. 

  

What’s Offered:

  • Participate in LMRT’s regular weekend practice, receive instruction from our coaches and make new friends
  • Prospective members can participate on a one time basis - up to two practices the same weekend
  • If you decide to join, you can ask USSA to count the $25 for the Clinic towards a full USSA membership (required for all LMRT athletes)

Requirements:

  • Must be 7-11 years of age (6 years old for March Trial Clinics)
  • Can ride all lifts and put on own equipment without assistance
  • Can ski all Blue terrain at Liberty Mountain in a wide parallel stance
  • Completed registration materials signed by parent or guardian
  • $25 check made out to USSA, completed USSA ’Temporary Membership Application’ and signed Liberty Mountain liability waiver (no cash please)
  • Regular ski equipment (no rentals), a snow-sports helmet and a lift ticket

Registration for December 2009 Clinics will close on November 30th (or when 10 RSVPs are received) due to larger than normal interest. 

December Trial Clinics will automatically be placed on the waiting list for full LMRT membership.   
 

LMRT’s Unique Experience:

  • LMRT uses modern coaching techniques, innovative training aids, and positive reinforcement to encourage learning and a life-long love of the sport.
  • Gate training sessions are designed to help skiers acquire race tactics and skills using a mix of age-appropriate obstacle, terrain, & full-length training courses, timed runs & video analysis
  • Skiing and instruction in small groups (approximately 6 to 8 per coach) is also a major part of each practice including directed free skiing, training drills and instruction, and periodic video analysis
  • Athlete groupings are based on both ability and age

Clinic Dates & Times:

  • Clinics are are held in conjunction with our regular practices, usually starting the first or second weekend the Mountain is open, and again in late February and early March for the next season.  (See the registration form for details.)
  • Clinic participants are eligible to participate in one or two days on the same weekend.
  • Participants should meet our staff ready to ski at in the resort’s main locker room at 7:45AM.

Sign Up:

  • RPSVP online at least 1 week in advance.
  • Mail USSA form, $25.00 check to USSA, and Liberty Mtn Waiver to the address below. 
  • December 2009 Trial Clinic preregistration closes 11/30/09 (or when 10 RSVPs are received) due to larger than normal interest. 
  • Trial Clinics will resume in March for next season.
