This program is designed for swimmers
ages 6-14 who wish to train for and swim in USA swim meets during
Marin Swim League’s off-season. All
levels of competitive swimmers are welcome, as well. Swim
meets are encouraged but optional based on age and ability of
swimmer.
Many past swimmers from this group have
gone on to compete on the Senior Marin Pirate team and have
achieved numerous accolades on both a Pacific and National
level. Many of these swimmers are members of college
swim teams.
Coach Jill Ruppenstein has had extensive
experience as a coac
h and a
swimmer. She is currently a Marin Pirate coach who works with
both age-group and senior swimmers. She teaches swimming at
SwimAmerica in Novato and Petaluma, specializing in competitive
stroke work. A Junior National qualifier and four time All
American swimmer, Jill earned her MA in Sport Management from
the University of San Francisco. Prior to joining the
Pirates, she was the assistant master’s coach and the head
age-group coach at The Olympic Club in San Francisco. Jill
combines a great ability to teach the technical aspects of swimming
with a friendly style of coaching that helps swimmers learn to swim
fast in a fun and enjoyable
environment.

Tom Sweeney has coached high school
swimming, masters 
swimming, and age group
swimming. He coaches the Marin Swim League’s Scott
Valley Sea Serpents during the summer league season. He has
instructed at various swim schools and provided private instruction
to both novice and advanced competitive swimmers of all ages and
abilities. He teaches a foundation in technique, positive
work ethic, and passion for the water. He is committed to
providing a safe environment wherein each student can find as much
success as possible and he enjoys sharing his competitive athletic
background and aquatic knowledge with all of his
students.
