Pre-Elite

Senior Pre-Elite- Individuals in this group focus their training and competing efforts at the Divisional, Zone, & Sectional level.  Swimming and the “team” concept is a very high priority for those in this group. Swimmers in this group must participate in holiday training camps and be willing to make-up missed practices. Swimmers also must set a good example for the younger swimmers by attending our Team Championships, which include Division I’s, Zones, Sectionals, if they qualify. Training and accountability of workout execution is the focus. This program is intended to provide both a stepping stone for athletes intending to be successful in the Tsunami National program and also provide a demanding and comprehensive training program for those athletes who cannot meet the attendance, commitment, and/or training requirement of the Elite National program. Senior swimmers are expected to attend 75% of workouts and communicate with the senior coach about their training schedule, including goals. Swimmers entering the Senior Pre-Elite program must be at least 13 years old and complete four of the following six before entering the group:

  • 10x100@ 1:15
  • 8x50 @ :50 kick
  • Swim under 1:00 in 100YD freestyle for girls/ :56 for boys
  • Swim 13-14 Division I qualifying times in main events (2)
  • Kick 1x50 under :30 with fins
  • 30 pushups in 1:00

Goals and Expectations of the Senior Pre-Elite Group to remain in the group:

  • Prepare athletes for Division I, Zone, and Sectional Level and for movement into Senior National group (if so desired)
  • To consistently improve commitment level, sportsmanship, and training/racing ability from season to season or maintain status - this includes hidden nutrition such as massage therapy, strength training, diet
  • Set short-term and long-term personal and swimming goals and turn them in to Head Coach
  • Actively improve distance per stroke and skill level
  • Attendance should improve, not decline as the athlete matures – 75% to maintain status up until and upon completion of their high school swimming seasons, swimmers arriving late will be counted against attendance
  • Display ability to train appropriately for the athlete’s experience and stated goals
  • Swimmers should be positive representatives of the Tsunami Swim Team when representing their high school team.  Swimmers are expected to maintain attendance requirements up until and upon conclusion of their high school swimming seasons.
