Peddie Aquatics Association Training Groups

The Peddie Aquatic Association offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Peddie Aquatic Association to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Age Group Program

Falcon: The Falcons are the first step in the Peddie Aquatics Swim Team, offering practices for swimmers between the ages of 6-9. Knowledge of all four competitive strokes is required. Swimmers work on stroke mechanics and an introduction to drills for all 4 strokes. The goal of the Falcon division is to provide each swimmer a solid understanding of each stroke and a foundation of technique that will allow them to advance to more complicated training.

Junior 1: The first stage of our Age Group Program offers 8-11 year olds that chance to begin developing through more complex workouts. Swimmers must have been through either our Developmental program or a similar training program where all 4 strokes have been learned, as well as proper turns. The Junior 1 group is designed as mainly a technique training group with emphasis on proper stroke technique, and some basic interval and set training. Attendance and meets are highly encouraged at this level as well as year round training.

Junior 2: This is our training group for our 11-13 year olds. In this group swimmers will continue to expand their aerobic capacity and develop an understanding of race strategy. Swimmers will be asked to learn high level workout skills and as well as perform each stroke with efficiency. Competition is highly recommended for all meets which are appropriate for their level. Practice attendance is highly recommended in this group in order to help swimmers prepare for the senior program. The goal of this group would be to work toward highest levels of competition for this age group. Goals of Junior Olympic, Zone, and Top 16 competition will all be discussed and focused on.

Junior Performance: This is our highest training group for our 10-13 year olds. In this group swimmers will be required to maintain a consistent practice attendance average. Swimmers will expand their aerobic capacity and develop an understanding of race strategy. Swimmers will learn high level workout skills and as well as perform each stroke with efficiency. Competition is required for all meets which are appropriate for their level. It would be expected that our annual training cycles will be kept in mind and that all vacations will be planned around these training cycles. The goal of this group would be to work toward highest levels of competition for this age group. Goals of Sectionals, Junior Olympic, Zone, and Top 16 competition will all be discussed and focused on. Entrance into this group is through permission of the Head Age Coach.

Senior Program

Senior Prep: The Senior Prep level at Peddie represents our 13-14 swimmers. This group is designed as a bridge between our Age Group program and our Senior Program. The goal of the group is to prepare swimmers for advanced levels of competition working on technical development as well as increasing training loads. Dryland training takes a major step forward as swimmers utilize more advanced training. Regular practice attendance is recommended as well as attendance at all meets.

Prep Performance: This group represents our 13-14 swimmers that have decided swimming is their primary sport. The goal of the group is to prepare swimmers for the highest level of competition working on technical development as well as increasing training loads. Swimmers will focus on Sectional Championships and USA Futures Championships. Dryland training takes a major step forward as swimmers utilize more advanced training to prepare National level competitions. Attendance standards are required for this group and entrance into this group is through permission of the Head Senior Coach.

Senior: The Senior level at Peddie represents our 15 & Over swimmers. The Senior group is designed to get swimmers ready for Sectional level swimming through Junior Olympic levels of competition. Training emphasizes both technical improvement and aerobic development. Dryland training as well as intense pool training will help swimmers continue to improve their conditioning as their skills are refined. All practices and meets are highly recommended for this group as swimmers learn the importance of consistent training. 

Senior Performance: This group provides the training atmosphere necessary for success at all levels of swimming. The Senior Performance group at Peddie is committed to Sectional, National, and International swimming through an intense training program. Swimmers are 100% committed to their swimming development by way of attending all practices, always being positive and working hard, and serving as role models for all swimmers in the Peddie Aquatics program. Entrance into this group is through permission of the Head Senior Coach.
