Based on the results of the United
States Swimming, Virtual Club Championships, for this past
short-course season, Orinda Aquatics finished 1st in
nation for teams with less than 150 swimmers! In
terms of overall finish, our results placed us 4th in
Pacific Swimming, 13th in the state, and 98th
in the nation – again, competing with teams under 150
swimmers, we would be first in each
category.

Orinda Aquatics -
USS
Our Senior Group had an
unprecedented 75% of the group qualify for Far Westerns, and
had over 65% of the group qualify for Sectionals this
summer. And with our college swimmers, we had over
fifty Sectional qualifiers, again, more representative of a
team of 500 swimmers. These percentages would be extremely
competitive on a national level. We recently took twenty
swimmers to the Santa Clara International Grand Prix having
one of the largest non-collegiate representations in the entire
meet and had twenty swimmers meet the NCSA Junior National
standard.
Orinda Aquatics
at
North
Coast
From a
team perspective and an individual perspective, Orinda Aquatics was
again as well represented as any USS team in Pacific
Swimming. In the 100 school, North Coast Section, the top
three men’s teams were coached by OA coaches, and Campolindo
(with very strong OA presence) was again the best overall team in
the meet. Orinda Aquatics had twenty top eight finishes, and
additional seventeen consolation finishes, for a total a
thirty-seven final swims. Additionally, Orinda Aquatics had
over twenty swimmers qualify for the All-American automatic or
consideration time standards.
Cal
Women Win NCAA Championships
Three
former OA swimmers a part of the
program
Cal
’s recent win of the Women’s
NCAA Division 1 Swimming Championships included three former Orinda
Aquatics swimmers. Heather White, who swam for
Orinda Aquatics for seven years and was an All American for
Miramonte, competed in the 200 IM and 400 IM. Heather
recently placed in the top eight in the 200 IM at the Santa Clara
International Invitational. Kristen Lewis was
local swimmer who went from Moraga Country Club to Campolindo to OA
and was one of the most improved and inspirational swimmers at
UCLA. After assisting UCLA on a voluntary basis, Kristen was
asked to join Teri McKeever and the
Cal
women’s staff. According to
Teri, Kristen has played an integral role in the success of the
team. And John Dorr, who trained with OA for a year
prior to competing in the last Olympic trials, is the
Administrative Coordinator for all of Cal
Aquatics.
