Worker Requirement

MEET WORKER REQUIREMENT

Winter 2009-2010 Season   *REVISED 11/9/09

1) The ME Lyons YMCA/Anderson Barracudas will host two (2) meets during the winter season:
YMCA National Virtual Invitational Oct. 24th (one session);
Larry Lyons Invitational: November 6-8, 2009 - for all ages (5 sessions);
*These meets are held as fund raisers for our team. As such, your help in staffing these meets is critical.

2) Each family is required to provide a worker for a total of two (2) sessions anytime during the the home meets detailed above. A session usually lasts a half-day. You choose when you want to work your sessions. You can work one session per meet or two sessions at the Larry Lyons meet. You simply need to have worked two sessions before Y Sectionals. NEW THIS YEAR - All meet jobs (e.g. timer, official, etc) will be weighted equally meaning every family needs to work two sessions regardless of the job(s) chosen. NOTE: Even if you are a parent of an older swimmer, you still need to work your 2 sessions.

3) In addition to working a total of two sessions during our home meets, all families also need to work one session at either the YMCA South Sectional Championship Meet (formerly called the A Championship Meet) or the YMCA Southwest Ohio Swim League Championship (SWOSL) Meet (formerly called the AA Championship Meet).
The South Sectional Meet will be held at the ME Lyons YMCA on March 5-7, 2010. The SWOSL Meet will be held at Miami University on March 12-14, 2010.
Please note that your child’s times determine which Championship Meet(s) they swim in. Many children participate in both meets. Each family is only required to work once. It is most helpful if you choose to work at the meet where your child is swimming the majority of their events.
If your child participates in a USA Championship Meet INSTEAD of a YMCA Championship Meet, you need to work one session at the YMCA South Sectional Championship Meet being held at the ME Lyons YMCA.

 PLEASE NOTE THE FOLLOWING:

A) Each family is expected to be proactive about signing up to work. Worker sign-ups for each meet will be posted on the team’s website approximately one month prior to the meet. You will be notified via e-mail when the sign-up links for each meet have been posted. Please keep in mind that any times listed under the job signup section for each hosted meet are just best estimates. It is each families job to be aware of the TRUE warmup start time as well as the meet start time. This information is typically listed on the home page of the website, in the weekly update and under the actual EVENT itself. In addition to this, every meet worker MUST check in with the meet worker coordinator. Please see job position check in times below:
 A)  Check-in times are as follows:
   Meet Director:  Must be present when warm-ups start
   Warm-Up Monitor:  Must be present when warm-ups start
   Deck entries:  Must be present 1 hour prior to meet start
   Heat Sheet Sales:  Must be present 1 hour prior to meet start
   All other workers:  Must be present 45 minutes prior to meet start
If you do not check in on time, your position may be given away. In addition, please sign up to work a session that you truly are able to work. You need to be aware of the session your child is swimming in. Lastly, every meet worker must stay until the end of the session they signed up to work.

If you wait until the last minute to sign-up for any given meet, there is a very good chance that no jobs will be available. No additional jobs will be created. Please note that you may need to work during a meet or session that your child is not participating in in order to fulfill your obligation.
B) Teenagers 13 and up may work to help fulfill their family’s requirement. Friends and relatives can also work to help fulfill a family’s requirement.
C) NEW THIS YEAR - We will be providing the team’s families with a list of teenagers and adults who are willing to work FOR OTHER FAMILIES for $50. If you can’t or don’t want to work, paying someone else $50 is a cost effective way for you to fulfill your requirement. If you choose to hire someone to work for you, it is your responsibility to pay them. The team will not manage any payment transactions. You must let the Volunteer Coordinator know that someone else is working for you in order to ensure your family is given proper credit.
D) NEW THIS YEAR – If you sign-up to work a meet and find yourself unable to work less than 72 hours prior to the START of the meet, it is your responsibility to find a replacement. If no-one shows up to work the position you signed-up for, you will be fined $100. Please notify the Volunteer Coordinator of any last minute replacements. If you determine you are unable to work more than 72 hours in advance of the meet start date, simply go on-line and delete yourself from the job you had signed-up to work.

4) We are often asked to provide workers at away meets. Although it is very much appreciated, working at an away meet does not count toward fulfilling your family’s worker requirement.

5) Per team policy, any family not working a total of two sessions during our home meets plus one session at Champs will be fined $100 per missed session.
