Senior Prep
Group
This group is designed for
skilled Junior High School age (12+) swimmers who are preparing for
the senior group and have more than one year of year round training
and competition. This group is also for High School age (14+)
swimmers who are staying in shape for High School swimming and/ or
are multi- sport athletes.
Group eligibility
criteria for High School age swimmers: Swimmers must be in
High School (at least 14 years of age) and must be able to swim 15
X 100 on a 1:35 sendoff in addition to being able to swim a
continuous 1000 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, and 100 backstroke
with the ability to do butterfly. Swimmers will be offered a
minimum of six workouts per week with the possibility of up
to 9 workouts per week at the coaches’
discretion.
Goals: Develop
endurance (15 x 100 on 1:30 or better) with constant improvement of
technique. Attend 80% of the workouts that you and your coach agree
upon you will attend. Participate in dry land and scheduled meets
agreed upon by swimmer and coach.
Practices: 1.5-
2 hours per day, plus dry land. 6-9 workouts per week. Additional
water/ dry land time will be offered during the holidays and summer
months for committed swimmers.
Group eligibility Junior
High School swimmers: Swimmers must be at least 12 years
of age and have at least one year of year round training and
competition. Swimmers should have at least OSI ’B’
times and can complete 10 X 100 on a 1:45 sendoff. Swimmers will
work on technique refinement and the building of a training base in
order to prepare for entry into the Senior Group. Swimmers will be
offered 6 workouts per week and are expected to attend 90% of the
practices and all scheduled meets. Dry land will be
stressed.
Goals: Develop
endurance (15 X 100 on 1:30 or better) with constant improvement of
technique. Qualify for OSI ’A’ Champs, Age Group
Sectionals, and Zones. Attend 90% of practices in order to be
considered for entry into the Senior Group
Practices: 1.5-
2.5 hours per day plus dry land. 6-9 workouts per week.
Additional water/ dry land time will be offered during the holidays
