Age: Ideally 7-12 years old
Practice Days: Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri, for 45 minutes
Description: This group is designed for elementary school and some junior high school aged children who can swim all four competitive strokes with a basic level of competency (legal racing technique). Emphasis will be put on improving balance and efficiency of all four competitive strokes, as well as the corresponding starts and turns. Working with teammates and having Fun are still a part of the curriculum. Goal setting concepts are introduced at this level.
- This group is 80% technique and 20% endurance training.
- Swimmers must be able to comfortably complete 50 yards of both freestyle and backstroke, and 25 yards of breaststroke and butterfly. Swimmers should also be able to perform a standing dive in a streamline position.
Swimmer Expectations: This group does not have an attendance requirement, but swimmers should try to attend three practices a week. Swimmers should plan to attend swim meets/competitions regularly, not to exceed one meet a month.
Equipment: Swimmers need to have a pair of Fins at practice each day. Recommended Fins
