How do I register my child?  When can I register?

Spring/Summer Marin Swim League Season:

Registration opens in early January.  For 2018, Registration for RETURNING families will begin on January 2nd, and registration for NEW families will begin on January 9th.  Registration involves signing your kids up for the team (online), or for NEW 8 & Under swimmers, signing them up for an Assessment, paying, and signing the liability waiver.  Additionally, once your child is on the team parents are required to sign up for their volunteer commitments.  Volunteer opportunities will be opened for commitments as of February 12th but can be made later. However, for the most job choices you will want to sign up for your volunteer commitments as soon as possible.

Winter Swim Season:

Online registration generally opens in Mid-October.  Registration and fees must be received prior to participation.

 Fall Swim Season:

Online registration generally opens at the end of August.  Registration and fees must be received prior to participation.

Registration will open at the same time as both our Fall Swim and Spring/Summer Marin Swim League Seasons.  If you are considering signing up for the Tadpole program we are requiring that you sign up for the "COM Assessment Group" and have your child attend the assessment.  If your child is assessed as 'ready' for tadpoles, we will move your child into the tadpole group and charge you the registration fee for this program.  We do not currently offer a tadpole Winter Swim program.

What are the registration fees for each program?

I got a message that said (this Group is FULL; please contact Team Admin) when I tried to register...what does this mean and what should I do?

Due to the popularity of our program, we will need to cap our 2018 registration numbers across all age groups.  If you have received the above message, we suggest that you instead register your child to the "waitlist" group (there is a $5 deposit required to be on the waitlist which will either be applied toward registration or refunded to you.)  It is possible that depending on registration numbers in all groups, that space may open up.  If this happens you will be notified and offered the spot.  In the meantime, we encourage all wait listed members to attend Splash Week assessments starting the last week of February.

What does it mean to register for the waitlist?
The waitlist registration group is for those people who register after the cap limit for their age group has been reached.  If you are not able to register your child into their appropriate age group, please register your child for the waitlist group.  Depending on registration numbers in all the age groups, it is possible that space on the team will open up.  If this happens you will be notified.  In the meantime we encourage all wait listed members to attend Splash Week assessments starting the end of February.  The $5 waitlist fee will either be applied toward your child's registration or refunded to you in early March.
Partial scholarships are available based on need.  If you are interested in requesting a scholarship for next year, please contact our registration volunteer at

What are the fees used for?

The fees are used for coaches’ salaries, rental of the pool, insurance, administrative costs, Marin Swim League dues, newsletters, trophies, ribbons, and incentive awards.  Other optional expenses you may have, in addition to the fees, include swim gear, team photo, special team events, and optional private lessons.

Are the fees and volunteer commitment the same for high school swimmers?

No.  Because high school swimmers join the team in mid-May the registration fee is $100 and there is no volunteer commitment required of parents of only high schoolers.
