Riverside
could enjoy the fun of
swimming. This summer swim league introduces new
individuals to swimming by teaching swim strokes, as well as builds
upon the swim techniques of experienced
swimmers. The goal is to improve the swimming
abilities of all whom participate.
Riverside Aquatics Association
(RAA) is excited about the new partnerships it is building with
RCSC and
Martin
Luther
King
High
School
. RAA
is introducing its new RAA Summer Swim Team to the RCSC
League. The RAA team will compete against Tidal
Waves, CBU, Indian Hills,
Norco
,
and X-treme.
The RAA Board of Directors and
Coaches are working closely with the MLK Athletic and Aquatic
Departments to coordinate this program for our
community. RAA will continually update the
information provided as new schedules and details become
finalized.
REGISTRATION
Registration for the RAA Summer Swim Team will be
accepted during the first few weeks of practice beginning on April
3. Please download the calendar below and
come down to the Martin Luther King High School Pool during the
weekday practices from 4:30 - 5:30 pm and on the Saturday practices
from 9:00 - 10:30 am from April 3 through April 18.

PRACTICE SCHEDULE
The RCSC Season extends from April
through July 24. The RAA Summer Swim Team will
begin practice on Friday, April 3. RAA will also
offer an additional one month of swim practice through the end of
August.
RAA has obtained permission to
utilize the
MLK
High
School
pool on Mondays, Wednesdays,
and Fridays from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm and on Saturdays from 9:00 am
to 12:00 noon through the month of May.
Additional practice days may be made available from May through the
end of the school year. Practice times for
individual age groups will be determined based upon registration
numbers and will be provided soon after the March 14 registration
day.
SWIM
MEETS
RCSC swim meets are dual meets,
where two teams compete against each other. Each
team will have eight (8) total swim meets for the season, four (4)
away and four (4) at home. Our home locationfor
our meets is the Sippy Woodhead Pool on the corner of University
and Kansas Avenues. The competition pools for
the away meets are all within a 20 minutes drive from
MLK. An invitational relay meet and Prelims and
Finals meets (open to all, fee for entry) are also available during
the season.
The dates of these swim meets will
be determined at the RCSC Board meeting on March 9 and will be made
available at registration. Families sign up to
compete in each meet on an individual meet basis approximately two
weeks prior to the meet date. A minimum
attendance at four (4) swim meets will qualify for the end of the
year team trophy at RAA’s Awards Banquet.

program:
Practices (one month and a half longer than other
teams in the league), dual meet participation, award ribbons,
trophy (upon completion of program and fulfillment of minimum meet
attendance), various rewards and social celebrations
Other
possible
benefits:
MVP and Improvement Awards, ability to participate in
Prelims and Finals and win P&F ribbons and medals (upon payment
of P&F meet fees)
Volunteer Requirement
Families are required to
volunteer for 4 duties per registered swimmer (8 maximum per
family). These duties include timing, staging,
and head table for half of the meet time.
RAA Summer Swim Team has no fund
raising requirement.
