Learn-to-Swim with Yucaipa Aquatics

Swim Lessons are done for Summer 2017

 

Classes will range from beginning swimmers (little or no experience, age 3+) to developing swimmers (learning proper stroke technique to water safety skills).  Parent and child classes for children 6 months to 3 years old are also available. As well as adult lessons on Saturdays.

Online registration will open April 1st at 8:00 am.  All classes cost $55.00 except for the toddler classes which are $65.00.  If you want to ensure your spot then you must pay by credit card.  If you wish to pay by check then you will be placed on a “waitlist” until we receive your payment.

Classes Available

Parent & Child – Strictly a water orientation class designed with both the parent and child in mind.  Parents will be taught how to instruct their child in basic water safety and self-help skills.  Class is done with parent or other trusted adult.  Songs and games are utilized to promote a fun leaning environment.

Anglerfish (toddlers/ 3-5 yrs) - This beginning swimmer has no swimming experience, is fearful of the water and has never been enrolled in lessons.  This level is designed to introduce the inexperienced or fearful child to the water.

Batfish (toddler/ 3-5 yrs) - The child must be willing to get into the water and follow directions. Children will learn how to enter and exit the pool safely, hold their breath, blow bubbles, and put their face in the water.

Angelfish (level 1) – Designed to help child feel more comfortable and confident in and around the water. The child must be able to listen and follow directions. Emphasizes water safety, kicking, submerged bubble blowing and floating.

Bluefish (level 2) – Child must be able to glide 5 feet unassisted with face in the water.  This level marks the beginning of true locomotion skills, freestyle, backstroke, water safety and water comfort.

Clownfish (level 3) – Child must be able to paddle/crawl stroke 10 feet unassisted with face in the water and then lift head out of water for one unassisted breath.  Children will practice streamlines, freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke, rhythmic breathing and water safety.

Dragonfish (level 4) – Child must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke 25 feet unassisted.  Child must also be able to bob unassisted with proper inhale and exhale breathing.  This level will learn both breaststroke and butterfly kicks as well as work on endurance.

Elephantfish (level 5) – Child must be able to swim freestyle and backstroke 25 yards unassisted.  They must also be able demonstrate how to properly kick both breaststroke and butterfly.  The emphasis for this level will be to refine all strokes, build endurance, tread water, flip turns and rescue skills. 

 

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons - Tailored to meet your swimming goals.  Lessons can be purchased in 4 or 8 packs of 30-minute lessons.  Semi-private lessons are available for groups of 2-3 students of similar level.  Lessons must be used during the current summer session.

 

***Every child learns at their own pace.  Its normal for a child to repeat the same level before moving on to the next level.
