Fundraising

PCST is starting a focus on fundraising this year.  There are a number of reasons to fund raise but the primary ones are: to keep our monthly fees down, enable us to provide a quality program and support our coaches (monthly fees are not enough) and improve the financial security of the team.  Below is a list of our current fundraising initiatives and a brief description of each (other ideas are welcome):

Gulf Coast Triathlon - Every year the team volunteers at the Gulf Coast Triathlon to assist in the running of this great community event. Our swimmers help with many different aspects of the event including manning the transition areas, water stations, and general assistance with keeping the area clean and safe for all the athletes. Please keep your calendars open for Saturday, May 10th and check the web site for more information as the event draws closer.

Corporate Sponsorships – We need businesses and organizations in our community to serve as sponsors for the team.  We are non-profit so all donations are tax deductible.  If your business or employer would be interested in sponsoring us, please let me know.  In return we will list them on a sponsor’s page on our web site, list them on a banner at the GCCC pool and recognize them in our heat sheets for our 2 meets that we host.  I am also looking for volunteers that would be willing to approach businesses and ask for their sponsorship.

Beef O’Brady’s fundraiser’s – Beef O’Brady’s sponsors fundraiser’s for sports organizations.  On designated nights they will donate 10% of the sales to the team or organization that is having the fundraiser.  All we have to do is go eat there that night and recruit others to eat there too.  This will be set up so that we can eat at either location (Panama City Beach or Lynn Haven).  The 1st Beef O’Brady’s fundraiser will be in early May.

Carwashes – During the spring and fall we will coordinate car washes.  The main purpose of these will be to allow the kids to have fun away from the swimming pool and to allow families a chance to interact.  The 1st car washes will be held on Saturday, March 29th at 2 locations.

Dinner fundraiser – I am looking at setting up a dinner fundraiser in the late summer timeframe.  I do not have a restaurant lined up yet but am waiting to hear back from Carrabba’s.

Swim For Life – This will be in the late summer or early fall during a Saturday afternoon.  Each swimmer will be responsible for obtaining $100.00 in pledges for swimming a pre-determined amount of yardage based on their age and ability.  We will also donate 10% of the proceeds to a charity of our choice.

PCST family business program – This is a program to support PCST families that own businesses.  We will create a page on the web site listing all businesses that want to participate.  When someone from the team (or a referral) patronizes one of these businesses, then that family will agree to donate a percentage or set amount of the sale back to PCST.  All families wishing to participate in this should let me know so that we can get your business listed on our team web site.

Finally, I still need a small number of parents that would be willing to work with me on this fundraising effort.  I can be reached at 249-0858 or rm1160@knology.net.
