Swim Louisiana has
been given preliminary indications that the 2010 Short Course State
Meet will be held on February 25 - 28, 2010 at the University of
New Orleans Lake Front Arena. Given such information, the team has
already booked hotel rooms in New Orleans and suggests that parents
of swimmers already qualified do the same as soon as possible.
The team has booked 15 non-smoking double bedded
suites for Coach and Team Travel use. Once we have assigned all of
the team travel rooms, any unused rooms will be made available to
family-travel swimmers.. The hotel we have selected offers
a decent rate, and is on the same side of I-10 as the pool
location. It is the closest quality hotel to UNO, yet is still a
good 5 or 6 miles away. The hotel and the arena are both situated
on the lake. Traffic is horrific, so this presented the best place
for us to centralize as a team.
Swim
Louisiana DOES NOT have a "block" of rooms for parents to
call and take (so please DO NOT call the hotel and ask for Swim
Louisiana rooms,) and the rate we recieved in booking our rooms for
the coaches and team travel swimmers may not be the same rate that
you recieve. Parents MUST make their own reservations and
negotiate their own rates! It is suggested that you make a
reservation now, and then wait to see how many of the 15 rooms the
team has at the $105 rate we release. An email will be sent out as
soon as we have a concrete count for Team Travel swimmers and know
how many rooms we will need to use. If you take one of our
available rooms, it will be your responsibility to cancel any
original reservation you may have made at this our any other hotel.
The team reservation at this hotel is for non-smoking 2-double
bedded rooms with a check in on Thursday and check out on
Sunday.
