The
Rockwood Swim Club offers training and practice
groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal
of the Rockwood Swim Club to offer age specific
training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each
individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR
abilities.

Bronze Group
Ages - 6 and
older.
Schedule - 3 to 5 times per week, 1 hour and 15 minutes.
Qualifications -
Swim 300 yards freestyle non-stop and a 100 yard IM legally, or
graduate from Swim America program.
Goals - This group
gives swimmers further introduction into competition and basic
training for all 4 strokes. Meets are not required at this
level.
Silver Group
Ages - 8 and
older.
Schedule - 4 to 6
times per week, 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Qualifications -
Per coach’s recommendation.
Goals - This group
is for age group swimmers working toward improving speed and
technique. Continued development of all 4
strokes, emphasis on starts and turns will be the primary
goals. This will be an introduction to interval work,
distance training, starts, turns and race strategy. Meets are
required.
Gold
Group
Ages - 10 and
older.
Schedule - 5 to 6
times per week, 1 hour and 45 minutes.
Qualifications -
Per coach’s recommendation.
Goals - This group
is a pre-senior group for talented and committed age group
swimmers. Criteria includes test sets and the ability to
workout and perform at a consistently high level.
Senior Group
Ages - 13 and
older.
Schedule - 4 to 6
times per week, 1 hour and 30 minutes.
Qualifications -
Swim all 4 competitive strokes legally and 800 yards of freestyle
non-stop.
Goals - This group
is for swimmers who wish to train in a competitive
environment. These swimmers are not yet prepared to make the
commitment required of the National Prep group. They will
compete in meets, work on race strategy and selection, add distance
based training and continue with both endurance and technique based
practices.
National Prep Group
Ages - 13 and
older.
Schedule - 5 to 8
times per week, 1 hour and 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the
day.
Qualifications -
For the older swimmer who is moving towards the National group, but
has not yet made a sectional time or who has not made the personal
time commitment. Swimmers will compete in meets and do both
dryland training and pool training at a high volume.
National Group
Ages - 13 and
older.
Schedule - 6 to 10
times per week, 2 or 3 hours, depending on the day.
Qualifications -
Per coach’s recommendation.
Goals - The
swimmers in this group are training to compete at the elite Senior
National level by a comprehensive program of technique, dryland,
strategy and high volume. The majority of these swimmers will
compete in college and all efforts will be made to find the best
team for each swimmer’s needs. There is considerable
travel at this level of the team.
Water Polo Group
Schedule - Two times - four times
per week, Schedule depends upon the season.

This program is
run by Coach Gregg Emde, and covers both the basics of the sport
and all the elite technique and competition needed to excel at the
high school and college levels.
Masters Group
Masters swimming
sessions are available at 5:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. , Monday through
Saturday, at Marquette H.S. Jim Halliburton and Laurie Payne
coach the 5:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. sessions, respectively.
