AGE-GROUP

“B/C” - This level of swimmer is considered the most developmental of age-group swimming. Swimmers who are new to year-round swimming are automatically considered B/C swimmers until they compete in a USA Swimming sanctioned swim meet. Younger swimmers and swimmers who have recently “aged up” to a new agegroup are probably “B/C” swimmers. Most athletes in the “B/C” group set goals to achieve “B” or “BB” time standards.

“BB” – This level of swimmer is slightly more developed than the B/C swimmer. To be considered a “BB” swimmer in Georgia Swimming, swimmers must achieve a “BB” time standard in two different strokes, i.e. 50 Free and 50 Back. Becoming a “BB” swimmer allows swimmers to compete with more developed swimmers and sometimes higher level swim meets. “BB” swimmers should focus on achieving “A” time

standards.

“A” – As with the “BB” swimmer, the “A” level swimmer must achieve two “A” time standards in two different strokes. 10 & Unders and 11-12 boys swimming at an “A” level are allowed and encouraged to swim in the Georgia State Championship meets at the end of each season. “A” swimmers mostly aim for “AA” time standards and above.

“AA”, “AAA”, “AAAA” – The highest level for age group swimmers is the “AA” and
above classification. Swimmers achieving this classification will be performing at the top tier of Georgia swimming competitions. 11-12 girls at this level can compete in Georgia State Championship meets at the end of each season. All age-groups performing at this level may compete in the Southern Sectional swim meet held at the end of Short Course season.

“T-16” - This is the most challenging level of swimming for athletes to achieve. The
Top 16 times in each event within each age-group are tabulated at the end of both the Short and Long Course seasons. If a swimmer’s time is among the Top 16 times in the Nation, they are considered a “T-16” swimmer.

SENIOR

Like age-group swimming, senior swimmers also achieve time standards and may be classified as “B/C”, “BB”, “A” swimmers, etc. For the sake of swim meets though, seniors are divided into two groups.

Senior Circuit” – Swimmers at the “Senior Circuit” level have achieved two “AA” times in two different strokes. The higher of the two senior levels, “Senior Circuit” swimmers compete in more advanced sessions of senior meets.

“Senior Developmental” - This level of senior swimming has yet to achieve “Senior Circuit” status.
