Who can join?
Boys and girls ages 5 though graduating seniors are eligible to
become members of the Sea Stars. The only criteria is that swimmers
should be able to swim one length of the pool unassisted. Swimmers
will compete within the following age groups: 6&u, 8&u,
9&10, 11&12, 13&14, and 15 thru 18 Age is determined as
of June 1st.
Team registration is available for South Pointe Swim Club Members
and returning swim team families. Swimmers whose families are not
members of the South Ponte Swim Club are not allowed any additional
usage of the facility beyond their swim team activities.
It’s cold and raining do we have practice?
No practice will be held if there is heavy lighting or heavy rain.
On cool mornings the coach will determine if practice will be held
in the water. If you are not sure, the coaches will be at the
pool each morning regardless of the weather.
Do I have to work meets?
The parents play a crucial role on our team. The coaches and
swimmers rely on parents to organize and run meets and social
events.
Volunteering is mandatory and essential for a successful
season
.
Each family will be required to work at the swim meets their
children will attend. Parents are required to find their own
substitutes in the event they are unable to attend a meet in which
they are scheduled to work.
We need swim meet officials at all of our swim meets. The
Naperville Swim Conference will host official’s clinics prior
to the season to train parents.
Here are the dates of the 2008 Officials Clinics. Clinics will be
held at Neuqua Valley High School in the Large Forum Rooms.
·
Saturday, May 10 from 8:00am - 10:00am, Rm C200
·
Tuesday, May 13 from 7:00pm - 9:00pm, Rm C202
·
Saturday, May 17th from 8:00am - 10:00am, Rm C200
Volunteers only need to attend one of the three clinics to be an
official for the 2008 season.
Each swimmer’s registration will be accepted upon completion
of the parent’s volunteer registration form. It takes a
minimum of 40 workers to run a home swim meet and 25 to run an away
meet.
What Do I Bring to the Meets?
Be sure to bring swimsuit, goggles, 2 or 3 towels, warm clothing
such as sweat pants and shirts, bug spray, snacks and water or a
sport drink (although most pools sell these at their concessions).
It’s also a good idea to bring along something to occupy your
time in between events such as cards, gameboy or
books.
