Head Coach Jimmy Bynum

Jimmy has been involved in the Austin aquatic scene for basically his entire life. Few are the people who he hasn’t coached, coached with, or coached against. Jimmy swam at the University of Texas back in the 1980’s for coach Eddie Reese, and played for the club water polo team. He has coached summer league and year round swimming since that time, becoming a fixture in the community. Among the facilities he has worked are the Hills Fitness Center, Westwood Country Club, Courtyard Tennis & Swim Club, and West Austin Athletic Club. For years before he became the WHAC Swim Team coach, he coached for the club’s masters swim team, helping it to become one of the premier masters programs around. While Jimmy has a strong competitive side to him, his main focus is to make sure your swimmer is healthy, both physically and mentally. He wants your swimmer to enjoy swimming for the rest of their lives, not just the few years that he is going to coach them.
