We
will continue the incentive program this year that recognizes both
improvements and outstanding achievement for individual swimmers
throughout the season. Swimmers can achieve the
following:
Green star (all 10-under swimmers)
Green
stars are awarded whenever a 10 and under swimmer has improved
his/her time in an individual stroke (relays excluded). A swimmer
can get as many green stars as he/she is able (limited to one per
stroke per meet).
Purple
star
Awarded
each time a swimmer breaks a pool record. Information on pool
records is posted at the pool.
White
star
Awarded
each time a swimmer earns 100 points for the team. This is a
cumulative number carried over from season to season.
All
of the following stars are awarded once per stroke, per season to
swimmers who achieve the threshold times.
Gold
star / County Swim Caps
This
star will be awarded to swimmers that achieve a county time in a
stroke. County caps will be awarded to swimmers on the day they
achieve a county time.
Red
star
Is
10% away from a county time
Blue
star
Is
20% away from a county time
Orange
star
Is
30% away from a county time
Awards Banquet
Del
Amigo hosts an awards banquet for all swimmers and their families
at the end of the regular season to celebrate our swimmers’
accomplishments. Each
Del Amigo swimmer is recognized for his/her participation and
achievements throughout the season with a trophy. Additionally, special achievement
awards will be presented to a boy and girl in each age group. These include the
following:
Coaches Award: This award recognizes
swimmers for their commitment and dedication to the team and their
overall attitude and work ethic.
Most Improved: Awarded to the swimmers
who have shown the greatest growth in skills including technique
and times.
High-Point: Awarded to the swimmers
who have achieved most points in their age group.
A
coveted “SPIRIT”/”Joey
Moore” award
(the finale of the Awards Banquet) is presented to two swimmers,
boy and girl, who have demonstrated a contagious team spirit and
enthusiasm for the sport of swimming. This is a perpetual trophy
presented by the Head Coach to these two young people.
