TEAM RECORDS
Within Team Millennium, as with all swimming programs, there tends
to be an emphasis on, and pride in, individual
accomplishments. Yet, it is through a focus on fellowship,
fun, and friendly competition that we are able to consistently
build towards the team’s overall success.
A primary weekly focus for Team Y2K has been to recognize
accomplishments of individuals, both swimming and non-swimming
related, and to post these achievements in the club newsletter, as
well as on the team bulletin board at Fenwick. We do this
because, in swimming, individuals often develop at different
paces. And it is our goal to encourage all swimmers no matter
where they are on the accomplishment continuum.
Everyone swims for a different reason, and no matter what that
reason is each swimmer is a valuable asset to the team.
Everyone has something to offer the team, and has the ability to
develop as an individual. So, at Team Millennium goal
setting is an important part of that development. Goals
challenge swimmers and give them something specific to work
towards. Goals help motivate swimmers to develop their skills
and offer a way to evaluate progress. Goals can be a time
standard, a personal best, the improvement or development
of a stroke technique, attending practice regularly, or simply
making new friends.
Thus, it is with a spirit of encouragement (and a love of history)
that we post Team Records. Keep dreaming and keep setting
those goals!
