Swimmers are assigned to groups
based on their age and ability after an evaluation by our
professional staff. No children are turned away. Those whose skills
are not quite ready for the team are encouraged to particpate in
lessons at the Aquatic Center to continue their preparation. We
have a spot in our program for everyone!
The progression of an athlete from
one level to another is based on many different variables, not
simply age or competitive performance. Group changes generally
occur at three times during the year - during or after the December
holidays, after the short course season, or after the long course
season. Advancement of swimmers to a different practice group is
always at the coach’s discretion; however, we have
established some guidelines to help the swimmers set goals.
The sport of swimming has
garnered a reputation of requiring extremem dedication on the part
pf particpants and their families. While this is true at the elite
level, swimmers and families in our program are encouraged to determine their own
level of time commitment based on their unique situation and
goals. A consistent practice schedule is
ideal but not mandatory. As with any other skill-based activity,
frequency and quality of practice time correlate to
improvement.
