National Group

The National-Group is a group of athletes and families who are committed to excellence at the highest level. This is defined by the fact that all athletes are capable of experiencing their peak potential. The level of performance may vary. The National-Group is designed and run to insure that those that have the ability and desire can experience their peak performance. This means that we measure against what it would take to be the best in the world and design a program with all the elements we can to provide this opportunity. To be a member of this training groups swimmers are expected to have 3 Sectional time standards.

The National-Groups, and the senior group, year program is planned around 3 phases. Phase I is focused around training and building a foundation for the swim year (fall season, August-November). The swim meets during Phase I are important but ussually are secondary to heavy training. Swimmers may not see best times during phase I as they are broken down and tired. During Phase II training and swim meets were of equal value (winter-spring, November to March). Phase III starts off with training as the primary focus thru mid-June then changes to the meets being the primary focus thru mid-August (spring-summer, February to August).

This group focuses on qualifying for Sectionals and Grand Prix events. Olympic Trials every 4 years. Minimum training sets for entry include:

20x100 @ 1:15 holding 1:10 or better short course
4X200IM @ 2:40 holding 2:30 short course

10x200 @2:30 holding 2:20 or better short course
