Swim Groups

The Yucaipa Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Yucaipa Swim Team to offer age specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR abilities.

Bronze/Beginning- Ages 8 & under
Bronze group Fish are beginning swimmers who have had limited swim or stroke instruction.
Training: M thru TH, 4 PM to 4:45 PM Minimal dry land. Skills and drills are emphasized. Swimmers attend 2 practices per week.
Goals: To be able to swim all 4 strokes with a minimum skill level; increase leg strength; follow proper lane swimming, introduction to competitive swim meets
 

Bronze/Advance - Ages 8 & under
Bronze group Fish are 8 & under swimmers who are able to swim at least 25 yards of all 4 strokes
Training: M thru TH 4 PM to 5 PM. Minimal dry land. Skills and drills are emphasized. Swimmer should try to attend a minimum of 3 practices per week.
Goals: To be able to swim all 4 strokes with a minimum skill level; increase leg strength; follow proper lane swimming, introduction to competitive swim meets

Silver- Ages 9 & 10
Silver group includes both a beginning and an advanced group. Advanced Level 2 members should be able to swim 50 yards nonstop in all 4 stokes.
Training: M-TH 4 PM to 5 PM. Minimal dry land. Skills and drills are emphasized. Swimmers at this level should try to attend a minimum of 3-4 practices per week.
Goals: Learn all 4 strokes. Develop an understanding of basic training drills. Strengthen legs. Learn how to read the pace clock.  Be able to swim a 100 IM without stopping, dive off the starting blocks, and do freestyle flip turns.

Gold, Beginners - Ages 11 & up beginners
Gold group Fish are beginning 11 & up swimmers who have had limited swim or stroke instruction and need formal training and conditioning before being placed in the Level 3 group.
Training: Mon thru Friday. 4 PM to 5 PM,  Minimal dry land. Skills and drills are emphasized. Swimmer should try to attend a minimum of 3 practices per week.
Goals: To be able to swim all 4 strokes with a minimum skill level; increase leg strength; follow proper lane swimming, introduction to competitive swim meets

Gold Group, Advanced - Ages 11 & 12
Gold group is for 11-12 year old swimmers who have had some stroke instruction but have not yet mastered the technical basics of all four strokes. Members of this group should be able to read the pace clock and should also be able to swim, at a minimum skill level, the 100 IM without stopping, dive off the starting blocks, and do freestyle flip turns.
Training: Mon-Friday 4 PM TO 5:30 PM; Saturday 6:50 AM to 8:00 AM. Includes occasional dry-land training. Focus on conditioning with some drill and stoke work. Swim competitively in meets. Should attend 3-5 workouts per week.
Goals: Become proficient in all 4 strokes and the 100 IM. Learn to swim drills following the pace clock. Strengthen Legs. Be able to swim a 200 IM without stopping. Develop competitive swimming skills

Junior Group - Ages 13 &14
Junior Group is for intermediate swimmers, ages 13 -14. Members must be able to perform adequately all four strokes and the 100 IM. Must also be able to swim a 200 IM.
Training: M/T/TH/F- 4:50 AM to 6:20 AM; M/W/F- 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM; T/TH 4 PM to 6:30 PM includes dry land; Saturday 6:50 AM to 9 AM. Motivated and hard working, goal oriented. Swimmers are required to attend a minimum of 5 practices per week. The more practices the better. Increased focus on conditioning. Drills and stroke work included as needed.
Goals: Develop and improve aerobic conditioning, training disciplines, and competitive goals. Be able to swim multiple 200 IM's. Develop a desire to advance to the Advanced group.

Senior Group - Ages 15 & up
Senior group is for the self-motivated swimmer. Members must be proficient in all four strokes, be able to complete multiple 200 IM?s.
Training: M/T/TH/F- 4:50 AM to 6:20 AM; M/W/F- 4:30 PM to 6:30 PM; T/TH 4 PM to 6:30 PM includes dry land; Saturday 6:50 AM to 9 AM. Training expectations of Level 5 group members are high. Training includes 45-60 minutes of dry-land routines per workout. Practices (including dry-land) will average 2-3 hours per session. Swimmers are required to attend a minimum of 6 practices per week. Focus is on conditioning with some drill and stroke work.
Goals: Strengthen all strokes and all events. Able to swim multiple 200 IM's. Strive to achieve Blue and JO times (or better) in all 4 strokes and be able to swim the 400 IM. Be on time.? Race Senior fish in workouts.

Masters Level: Big Fish
Open to all Adults (ages: 18 (HS Grad) and over).
Training: M/T/TH/F 4:50 AM to 6:20 AM; M/T/W/TH/F 4:00 PM to 6:30 PM; & Sat- 6:50 am- 8:30 am.
Goals: Set by each swimmer. May include such goals as: cardiovascular conditioning, weight loss, toning, improving technique, competing in USA or Masters Meets (when available)
