Once we have recieved your registration we will confirm your class with an e mail or phone call.

Sessions will be 8 classes in length, unless calendar conflicts cause cancelations. A standard 8-class session will cost $48. Sessions scheduled for 7 classes will be discounted to $42.00; and 6 class sessions will have a $36.00 enrollment fee.

Escalating insurance costs have forced us to initiate a $10 surcharge per child when registering for the first time during the school year. This insurance surcharge is only assessed once per school year(Sept. thru July), per student.

Classes canceled by the Hazelwood School District for weather or pool-related issues can not be made up, and no refunds or credits will be issued. Classes canceled due to lack of adequate staff or other issues under the control of HEAT Swimming, Inc. will be rescheduled, or credits issued on a case-by-case basis.

Courses tend to fill well in advance, so register early. Waiting lists will be used to fill openings or to replace poorly enrolled classes with one of greater need. Currently registered participants will have the exclusive ability to re-register for their spot in the next session until after the fourth class of their current session. After the fourth class, any unclaimed spots for the next session will be opened up for anyone to enroll.

Lesson Class Descriptions:

Pre School Age : Age 3 thru Kindergarten Completion

Preschool Level 1: an introduction to structured lessons. In this class swimmer will become comfortable in the water, learn to blow bubbles and go under water. All entry level preschoolers should enroll in this class.

Preschool Level 2: For the preschooler who is comfortable in the water, and being separated from parent. Skills include submerging face, blowing bubbles and jumping off wall unaided. Swimmers will learn skills such as front/back float, kicking, pushing off wall to instructor and an introduction to freestyle.

Preschool Level 3: For the swimmer who makes “forward motion” unaided. Children will learn freestyle, elementary backstroke, sculling and important safety skills.

Preschool Level 4: By instructor approval only. Skills include swimming freestyle, elementary backstroke and introducing competitive backstroke. Retrieving objects from bottom of pool as well as sitting dives and treading water will be taught.

School Age: First Grade and above

Beginner: An introduction to lessons. Children will learn bobs, front/back float and receive an introduction to freestyle. Comfort in water will be key goal.

Advanced beginner Swimmers will learn freestyle, backstroke, elementary backstroke and become comfortable in deep water.

Intermediate For swimmers who have successfully completed Advanced beginner. Swimmers will work on completing 25 yards freestyle and backstroke. Skills such as treading water, survival float and diving will be taught.

Advanced By instructor approval only. Swimmers will continue “fine tuning” freestyle and backstroke, as well as learning butterfly and breaststroke. Side stroke and safety skills will also be introduced.

Pre Team

6 and under Pre-team:For swimmers not quite ready for team, but who successfully complete 25 yards freestyle. All four competitive strokes will be introduced, as well as a competitive start.

Pre-team:For swimmers not quite ready for or unable to commit to team. All four competitive strokes will be taught in a “practice” environment. Endurance will be worked on thru lap swimming.

Water Babies: 3 mo. to 3 years (parents in water w/child)
