The South Sound
Titans offers training and practice groups for swimmers
of all ages and ability levels, including adults (please see our
masters page or read more about masters below). It is the goal of
the South
Sound Titans to offer age specific training for all of our
athletes geared towards challenging each individual and to expect
excellence at all levels. We want our athletes to learn
to train like champions, even if they never become
one.

Guppies @ Sumner
Pool
- Regular Time Guppies - 5:30-6:00 PM, Monday
through Friday
- Home School Time Guppies - 1:00-1:30 PM, Monday
through Thursday
This is a hands-on experience for
new and young swimmers. The primary purpose of the Guppies
training group is to establish familiarity with many of the general
motor skills used in competition and practice. Swimmers in
this training group are typically 10 years old and younger, with
many 8 and younger swimmers. We like to isolate this age group
to avoid contact with larger bodies. The Guppies are directed
by assistant coach, Megan Harper. Swimmers in the Guppies
experience a great deal of hands-on work from coach Megan.
Guppies are expected to attend practice a minimum of three times
weekly. The monthly training fee for Guppies is $61.
Our fund raising policies and volunteer hour penalty
policy is under review and may be changing. Currently
there are no fund raising fees or mandatory volunteer hours
but all families are strongly encouraged to participate in our two
annual fund raising programs and to assist at meets we host.
There is a $15/month pool fee that applies to each family (1 charge
per family each month regardless of the number of swimmers in the
household).

Level training group is to establish familiarity with all of the
gross motor skills used in competition and practice. We also

Swimmers in this training group are typically 9-15 years old and
physically growing. The coaches of the Mid Level training
group frequently divide the swimmers into informal sub groups to
assemble swimmers with similar levels of skill. The Mid-Level
training group is directed by Head Age Group Coach, Diana
Ekstrom. Mid-Level members are expected to attend practice a
minimum of four times weekly. Practice times are,
Monday-Friday at the Sumner Pool. The monthly training fee is

Senior Prep @ Sumner Pool -
4:45-6:45 PM
The Senior Prep training group
fills two purposes. The first is to solidify correct
biomechanics and refine motor skills. The second is to
prepare swimmers to make the transition into volume driven
training. Swimmers in this training group are expected to
demonstrate good goal setting skills and good technical command of
all the racing strokes, starts, turns and finishes. They are
introduced to the concepts of stroke and race specialties, stroke
specific training, race specific training, seasonal progressions,
resting/tapering, and basic race strategies. They are usually
ages 11-16 and achieve a great deal of physical maturity while in
this group. Head Coach, Shawn Jones, is the director of
this training group. They are expected to attend practice a
minimum of five times weekly. Practice times are,
Monday-Friday and Saturdays as scheduled at the Sumner Pool.
The monthly training fee is $143. Our fund
raising policies and volunteer hour penalty policy is under review
and may be changing. Currently there are no fund
raising fees or mandatory volunteer hours but all families are
strongly encouraged to participate in our two annual fund raising
programs and to assist at meets we host. There is a $15/month
pool fee that applies to each family (1 charge per family each
month regardless of the number of swimmers in the
household).
Senior Training Group @ Sumner Pool
- 4:45-6:45PM
Swimmers in this group are highly
dedicated. The Senior Training Group has one primary
objective - to prepare mature athletes to achieve championship
performances at all levels. These athletes continue to refine
technical skills and must demonstrate excellent technical command
of all racing strokes, starts, turns, and finishes. They also learn
advanced race strategies, basic testing protocols, advanced goal
setting, and basic energy metabolism and physics. They are
encouraged to participate in advanced ancillary training like
weight lifting and using certain apparatus to improve physical
preparation. Head Coach, Shawn Jones, directs this
group. They are expected to attend practice a minimum of
seven times weekly. Practice times are, Monday-Friday and
Saturdays as scheduled at the Sumner Pool. The monthly
training fee is $175. Our fund raising policies
and volunteer hour penalty policy is under review and may be
changing. Currently there are no fund raising fees
or mandatory volunteer hours but all families are strongly
encouraged to particpate in our two annual fund raising programs
and to assist at meets we host. There is a $15/month pool fee
that applies to each family (1 charge per family each month
regardless of the number of swimmers in the
household).
