Practice Schedule & BSC Groups

The Bend Swim Club has a one week free trial for the following programs
[more membership information HERE]

GOLD

3:10-5:10pm

This is the highest level training group in the Bend Swim Club. This is a fairly elite group of swimmers as the commitment involved is high. Swimmers in this group train 6 days per week, sometimes, twice a day. Swimmers in the Gold group train 2 hours in the afternoon plus three 1.50 hour swimming sessions and two 1.25 hour weight training sessions after their swimming workout. The amount of time involved is considerable and because of that, the number of swimmers in this group is limited.

SILVER

3:10-4:40pm

This group is the top of the age group part of the program. Swimmers must be at least 11 years of age to train in this group, but consists mainly of 12-14 year olds. This group practices for 1.5 hours per session, and swimmers are asked to attend 4-5 days per week. The primary emphasis in training with this group is developing a good aerobic base, with a philosophy of everybody being good freestylers, good IM’ers, and have a good secondary stroke. These swimmers will also participate in a dryland program that involves push ups, abdominal work, and medicine balls. Dryland sessions are 30 min in length done after practice 2 times per week.

BRONZE

4:40-6:10pm

This group consists primarily of 10-14 year olds. The middle school and high school swimmers in this group are usually first year swimmers and will be moved to the Silver group when he/she and the coaching staff feels they are ready for the increased commitment. Swimmers in this group do most of their workouts as interval training with technique still highly stressed. Swimmers in this group practice three to four days per week for 1.5 hours per session.

BLUE

5:10-6:10pm

These are usually 9 to 12 year olds, with the occasional 8&Under that has been in the program for a year or longer. Again, the emphasis is on developing improvement in all four strokes, starts and turns. Swimmers are introduced to interval training, but the emphasis is on technique. In this group, swimmers are encouraged to begin making short term goals. Endurance work is the major physiological practice goal. Swimmers in this group practice three days per week for 1 hour per session on the days of their choice.

RED

4:40-5:40 pm

The Bend Swim Club entry level for 12 & Unders. Emphasis is on development of all four strokes, starts and turns. Swim meets will be encouraged when the child is ready. Swimmers are asked to practice three times per week of their choice.

DOLPHINS (Ages 5-08)

5:45-6:15pm

M/W/TH

Our Pre-Competitive program for those swimmers that still need to work on their ABC's.  Swimmers must be water adjusted, and be comfortable swimming on their front and backs to be accepted into the Dolphin Group.  Side breathing, backstroke, breastroke, and dolphin kick are the main focus of this group.

There is NO one week free trial for the Dolphin Group.

The Bend Swim Club’s Dolphin program is designed to teach the “grass roots” of swimming, introducing children to the sport of swimming in a fun and positive environment. By combining the teaching of stroke technique and basic competitive racing skills, the young athlete learns about the fun and excitement of the sport of swim racing. Classes are 30-45 minutes in length and are taught three days per week. Upon graduation from the Dolphin Program, swimmers are ready to participate in a competitive swim program, competing as a part of the Bend Swim Club, Oregon Swimming Inc., and USA Swimming.
