Official’s News   9/27/09

Our second recipient of the Dick LaFave PNS Official of the Year is Teri White.  Teri is recognized for the many contributions she brings to our LSC.  Teri officiates at all levels of meets.  Teri is a significant contributor to the officials committee and Teri is one of our LSC clinicians, teaching potential new officials how we do our activity on deck.  As a referee, she leads a well run team at the meets she referees.  When you see Teri, congratulate her on the accomplishment.  Thank you Teri!

The new season is about to begin.  I hope everyone had a great vacation and are recharged and ready for the swimming meets to begin.  Once again it is time to check with your friends and see if they are ready to join our officiating ranks.  Of course, we also need to do our due diligence and check our credentials.  Is this the year you need to attend a re-certification clinic?  And all of us will need a 2010 USA Swimming membership to continue to volunteer on deck as an official.  The application link is provide on the left.  May seem a little out of place, but Happy New Year (swimming year).

Those interested in becoming officials or advancing in the officials ranks, can find the training process defined in our policies.  To begin the process, one must attend a clinic.  As clinics become scheduled (most likely in the fall), they will be posted on our clinic web page.  Volunteers are always welcome and you will be properly trained to accomplish the duties.
