swimmer progresses and achieves at a rate that ensures their
longevity in the sport of swimming, a strong sense of personal
achievement and a high level of self-esteem. In addition,
every CSA swimmer will be given the opportunity to progress to
their highest personal and competitive performance level. CSA
training group criteria is established to provide a reasonable
range of swimmer age and ability within each of the groups.
Factors considered in the division of the CSA groups are a
swimmer’s age, physical and emotional maturity, as well as
their stated goals, and their current training and competitive
abilities. The physical, emotional and competitive development of
every child athlete is different and the appropriate
considerations, pertaining to their advancement through the CSA
programs will always be made. The final placement of each
swimmer is always the decision of the CSA coaching staff.
Swimmer move-ups will occur primarily in September and April
following the USA Swimming, Southern California Swimming and
Coastal Section Short Course and Long Course Championship meets,
respectively. Secondary move-up dates may occur in January and May
depending on circumstances related to group size and individual
swimmer progression rates.
