- 2nd place Women’s Team, California-Nevada Sectional,

- Erica Brannon, Dena Lougee, Samantha Lougee, Josh Prenot, and
Meghan Zimmer all make the USA Swimming IMX Top 100.
- Erica Brannon wins 11-12 Girl’s High Point at Central
California Junior Olympics.
2004
- Dena Lougee, Rachael Wahl, Josh Prenot, Cody King, Ryan Drom,
and Meghan Zimmer all finished in the Top 16 for Southern
California Swimming in their events. Josh Prenot was the FASTEST
9-10 50-meter Breaststroker in Southern California AND Top 16 in
the USA! Meghan Zimmer had the FASTEST 13-14 400-meter Individual
Medley in Southern California AND was Top 16 in the USA!
- Katlin Phillips qualified for the Western Zone All-Star team.
Southern California won the meet, with Pacific (Northern
California) finishing second. All-star teams from as far away as
Wyoming and Hawaii also participated. Katlin won the 1500 Freestyle
to assist Southern California Swimming to its second title in a
row.
- SMSC Junior National team of Dena Lougee, Megan Palera, Sam
Lougee, Sam Kephart, Meghan Zimmer, and Rachael Wahl finished 19th
at Junior Nationals.
- SMSC sends 4 athletes to Spring Junior Nationals, including
Dena Lougee, Samantha Kephart, Meghan Zimmer, and Ryan Drom.
- Josh Prenot wins 9-10 Boy’s High Point at Central
California Junior Olympics.
- Megan Palera places 13th in the 400 Individual Medley at USA
Nationals and 23rd at the US Olympic Trials in the 400 Individual
Medley.
- Josh Prenot (11) and Chas Brannon (10) qualified for the 2005
Swim Festival All-Star Team.
2003
- Ryan Drom swims to a 22nd place finish at NCSA Junior Nationals
in the 800 Free.
- SMSC sends 5 female qualifiers and 1 male qualifier to NCSA
Junior Nationals.
- Megan Palera competes at USA Swimming Summer National
Championships.
- SMSC swims to a 13th place finish at the Senior State Long
Course Championships (Clovis).
- Megan Palera competes at USA Swimming Spring National
Championships.
- SMSC swims to a 14th place finish at the Speedo California -
Nevada Sectional meet.
- Head Coach Mike Ashmore awarded City of Santa Maria
Mayor’s Award for Tourism (bringing tourists to the city for
major swimming events).
- Chas Brannon receives High Point 7-8 Boys at Central California
Junior Olympics.
- Erica Brannon receives High Point 9-10 Girls at Central
California Junior Olympics.
2002
- Megan Palera wins Summer Junior National meet in the 200 I.M.
- SMSC swims to an 18th place finish at the Summer Speedo
California - Nevada Sectional meet.
- SMSC swims to a 6th place finish at Southern California Junior
Olympics.
- SMSC swims to a 6th place finish at Central California Junior
Olympics (short course).
- Megan Palera and Lauren Wikholm compete at the Spring Junior
Nationals in Long Beach. Both make finals.
2001
- Brian Gargas, Megan Palera, and Lauren Wikholm compete at the
U.S. Open Championships in East Meadow, New York.
- SMSC swims to a 5th place finish at the Summer Junior Olympics.
The highest team finish ever for SMSC.
2000
- Mollie Lewis becomes the first Junior National qualifier for
SMSC in quite a while when she makes the 200 Breaststroke at the
Clovis State Championships.
- Megan Palera becomes the second Junior National qualifier for
SMSC, qualifying in six events.
- Mark Bennett competes at USA Spring Nationals in the 50
Freestyle.
