Aulea Swim Club is the Pride of Oahu’s Windward Side and a USA Swimming Club. Aulea has more than 100 swimmers from ages 7 - 18. Aulea means "swimming together harmoniously" which is still an accurate reflection of our club. If you are interested in joining the club, please refer to the Join Us link at the top of the web site for information about try outs, transfers and registration.
Groups/Coaches: We have six swim groups: Bronze (our novice group), Silver, Gold, Platinum, Junior and Senior Elite. Swimmers will be placed into the appropriate group based on their ability/age and moved up according to Aulea’s guidelines. Aulea is proud to have an outstanding staff of experienced coaches. To read bios on our coaches, please click the Coaches link on the right of the home page.
Swim School: Aulea is proud to have a Swim School for kids who are new to competitive swimming. Please refer to the Swim School link for more information.
Dues: Monthly dues are $72 ($55 for sibling). Upon registration, you will also pay $67 for annual USA Swimming membership. Aulea requires all parents to pay by automated checking account withdrawal ($1/month) or credit card ($2.50/month). Swimmers will also be charged for swim meets in which they participate (about $2 per event and most athletes swim in 3-4 events per meet).
Practices: The team practices at Kailua District Park in Kailua at 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. The end time will vary depending on the swim group (the Bronze group will end at 6:00, Senior group at 7:00, and other groups somewhere in between). Most experienced swimmers want to and are encouraged to swim five days per week. We encourage swimmers who are brand new to competitive swimming to attend practice three days per week, but ultimately it will be your decision which days you opt to swim and how many days.
Meets: Aulea is a competitive swim club and swimmers are strongly encouraged – or in many cases, expected to swim in meets (the number and specific meets will depend on their times and swim group). Meet info can be found in the Events, Calendar or Standards & Meet Info link.
Volunteers: Practice, meets and special events/activities (which are critical to helping form friendships and bonds and keep kids interested in swimming) are not possible without parent volunteers. Aulea expects parents to volunteer in some way for at least 20 hours per year.
Visiting Swimmers: Swimmers who are members of USA Swimming and visiting Oahu for vacation or extended time are welcome to swim with our club. Please email email@example.com to make arrangements.
Referrals: Aulea Swimmers can get one month of credit for referring a friend who joins the team (upon successful registration of the new swimmer). To take advantage of this, the new swimmer will need to indicate that they were referred by you on the tryout form.
Membership Cancelation/Inactive Status: If your child opts to stop swimming with Aulea, you have two choices. You can cancel his/her membership; if he/she opts to return within a year (and there is room on the team), Aulea charges a $50 reactivation fee. The other option is to place the membership on "inactive" status where you pay $15 per month rather than $72 per month (this works well if your child takes a break to play another sport or you go on a long vacation). Either way, all changes in status must be sent via email by the end of the month for the next month to firstname.lastname@example.org.
