Aqua Club currently offers
eight types of swim lessons:
Preschool 1 (Ages 3-5):
P.1 is our beginning swimmer class for children ages 3-5. Emphasis
is on beginning basic swimming skills. Skills taught include front
and back floats with assistance, introduction to front and back
glides, introduction to breathing, and an introduction to
crawlstroke arms and flutter kick.
Preschool 2 (Ages 3-5):
P.2 continues to teach basic swimming skills. A swimmer will
transition from assisted swimming to independent swimming. A
swimmer will be able to swim 15 yards of crawlstroke with side
breathing. Skills taught include front and back glides, underwater
swimming and an introduction to backstroke.
Advanced Preschool
(Ages 3-5):
Advanced Preschool is designed for the young swimmer who
demonstrates proper swimming skills. A swimmer must be able to swim
one length each of crawlstroke with side breathing, and backstroke
- without stopping. Advanced skills such as breaststroke and diving
are introduced.
Pre-Swim Team (Ages 4-8):
This class is designed for the swimmer who shows a good command of
basic swimming skills. The swimmer must be able to swim one length
of the pool using the crawlstroke and backstroke. An introduction
to the breaststroke is also necessary. This class is for the
swimmer who is too advanced for swim lessons but not quite ready
for swim team.
Swimmer 1 (Ages 6 and older):
S.1 is our beginner class for children ages 6 and older. Emphasis
is on beginning basic swimming skills. Skills taught include front
and back floats with assistance, introduction to side breathing,
crawlstroke arms and flutter kicks, and an introduction to front
and back glides.
Swimmer 2 (Ages 6 and older):
S.2 continues to teach independent swimming skills such as front
and back floats and front and back glides. The swimmer will be able
to swim crawlstroke 20 yards of the pool with side breathing.
Introduction to breaststroke and diving is also taught.
Advanced Swimmer
(Ages 6 and older):
This class is designed for the older swimmer who has a strong
command of the basic swimming skills. Mastery of the breaststroke
is emphasized. An introduction to the butterfly and a timed swim
using combined skills is also taught. The swimmer needs to be able
to swim one length of the crawlstroke and backstroke.
Race Class (by Swim Team age group, up to 12&U):
Race classes are offered to sharpen and refine a swimmers racing
habits including starts, flip turns, and general technique for all
strokes. Currently offered for 8&U, 10&U, and 12&U
swimmers.
