Swim Groups  

The Conroe Swim Club offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the Conroe Swim Club to offer age specific training for all of our athletes, thus practice is geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of THEIR ability.

 

 

NATIONAL AND SENIOR GROUP STANDARDS

To be considered, a swimmer must have achieved a National or Sectional time standard or have competed in finals at the TAGS Championship meet. Swimmers must be at least 13 years of age [unless coach approved] and demonstrate commitment and responsibility on a daily basis. Must receive coach direction well.  Swimmers in the 7th or 8th grade are not encouraged to attend morning practices (but may if they desire and coach approved). Maturity, goal setting, and leadership qualities are key to learning and understanding the process, performance and outcome goals designed for this group. Knowledge of training paces and race strategies are necessary. 

 

National Group Standards

 

Ø       Achieve official National time standard

Ø       100% attendance; no more than 3 absences per month-must be coach approved

Ø       Must be able to make Freestyle intervals on 1:05 base, 1:15 IM and 1:35 kick sets

Ø       Attends local meets, travel meets and highest level Championship meet

Ø       Must have group suggested equipment

Ø       Prioritize family, school, swimming and social activities

 
Senior Group Standards
 
Ø       Sectional time standard or TAGS finalist
Ø       100% attendance; no more than 3 absences per month-must be coach approved
Ø       Must be able to make Freestyle intervals on 1:15 base, 1:25 IM and 1:45 kick sets
Ø       Attends local meets, travel meets and highest level Championship meet
Ø       Must have group suggested equipment
 
 
Practice Goals
 
Ø       Positive attitude
Ø       Encourage teammates to train at highest level, Discourage negative attitude
Ø     Arrive early to practice [communicate updates with coach]
Ø       Listen and acknowledge others
Ø       Bring water bottle or Pure Sport product [practice drink and recovery drink]
Ø       Respect training facility: put away equipment and dispose of ALL trash
 
 
Competition Goals
 
Ø       Wear team gear
Ø       Proper nutrition prior, during and after competition
Ø       Warm-up and warm-down for each event
Ø       Speak with coach prior to and after every race
Ø       Must compete in every IMX event offered within each season
Ø       Know best times, prepare goals prior to competition, evaluate accomplishments
 
Team Commitment
 
Ø       Respect teammates
Ø       Encourage best efforts
Ø       Be respectful of training facility, team equipment and the property of others’
Ø       Good SPORTSMANSHIP
 
 

JUNIOR GROUP STANDARDS 

    

To be considered, swimmers will be expected to make a commitment to swimming with regard to longer training sessions and year-round competition. The minimum age for swimmers to enter this group is 9. Swimmers must demonstrate the ability to receive coach direction well, i.e., modify strokes, starts, turns and tempo change, etc.  Cognitive learning of advanced swimming techniques, goal setting, and team dynamics are important for this level of swimmer. Practice is offered six [6] times per week, and swimmers are expected to attend a minimum of five [5] per week. Must compete in a USA sanctioned meet every month or when offered.

   Base Intervals with good technique:
       8 x 100 Free            1:20
       6 x 100 IM               1:35
       5 x 100 Kick            1:50
