Rice Aquatics and Recreation Center Use-
All RICE Aquatics age group and senior swimmers will need to have their RICE Aquatics ID badge and lanyard with them and visible at all times upon entering the recreation facility. We are instituting this policy for the safety and security of all patrons while in the recreation center. As spring approaches many new camps and clinics with children will begin to be offered at the RICE Rec Center, we want our members to be distinguishable from other patrons.
Entrance into the Recreation Center will be directed to the turnstile to the right of the center kiosk. Please have ID's visible to help with the flow of swimmers entering the building. If your swimmer has misplaced their ID they will have to give their name so we the desk can match it to our roster. This should be a one time occurrence. Swimmers will not be allowed in continually with out ID's.
Families will receive an extra pass if requested so they can enter the recreation center to pick up and observe practice. Please have the ID badge visible as well while in the facility. If your badge is misplaced you can purchase a new lanyard and badge for $5 from one of the coaches. We will be using the lanyard and plastic badge cover through out the year and updating the badge itself for each session.
Please understand that without this badge you could be denied access or removed from the facility.
All Rice Aquatics members have access to the locker rooms and competition pool only during practice times. Please refrain form using the leisure pool, recreation are, and/or workout area. Please do not abuse the privilege of our use of the recreation center.
Parking for Rice Aquatics Members:
Parking on the Rice campus is at a premium. You can pay as you go in the central parking garage across the street from the recreation center for $2 per 35 minutes or at the north visitor lot at entrance 20 off Rice Blvd. or at the west lot #1 in front of the Alice Pratt Brown Building. Parking at these spots is $1 per 35 minutes.
A better option is to buy an early bird/evening bird parking permit for $65 per semester or $115 for a year. Parking permits are available in the central garage offices across the street from the recreation center. Your name goes to the parking services as well and you may also present your Rice ID. There is a $25 proxy card purchase at the time of registration for a parking pass. Click here for a map of campus parking. All payments must be payed in CASH.
Aquatic Center Use:
Your Rice Aquatics membership gives you access to the pool and locker room facilities for our scheduled practices. The recreation center has limited numbers of community memberships available for use of the whole center at anytime. Our use of the aquatic center is a privilege. We ask that you keep your use of the facility limited to our practice times.
Swimmers Siblings Policy at RICE
Rice recreation Center rules dictate that children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. It is okay to drop off your swimmer, but not siblings without supervision. Rice Aquatics swimmers and family are confined to the pool area, locker rooms and balcony. Please do not use the gyms, weight room or other facilities. Please refer to our web site or coaches phone numbers for schedule information. The recreation center does not generally know the schedule nor do they have the personnel to field swim team questions.
