Groups/Practice

The SWIM TULSA Swim Team offers training and practice groups for swimmers of all ages and ability levels. It is the goal of the SWIM TULSA Swim Team  to offer age-specific training for all of our athletes geared towards challenging each individual and developing each individual to the best of HIS/HER abilities.

Competitive Swimmer: 
One who participates in USA Swimming meets from novice through national level.  "There are no failures in competitive swimming, only different levels of achievement" - unknown

Gold Team - Competitive swimmers ages 13 and older
Coached by David Lynn and Eastman Holloway

Graduates from SwimAmericaTM and/or experienced competitive swimmers who are ages 13 and over are eligible for the SwimTulsa Gold Team. In this group, swimmers learn the mental and physical training skills necessary to be successful senior swimmers. Coach approval is required.


Attendance: Gold team swimmers are to swim a minimum of 4 practices per week and may add dryland training and morning swimming as their coaches recommend.
 

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group and work to establish and improve their IMX scores throughout the season by competing at least one USA swimming meet each month and all eligible championship meets.

Short Course Season and Water Polo, Mid August-End of March:

             AM: Mornings and Saturdays as announced (Morning Workout Policy - click here)

             PM: M-F 4:15 pm-6:15 pm at Union Pool 

Long Course Season, April-Mid August:

             AM: M-F 5:30-7 am at Union; Saturdays (8-10:30 am) as announced.

Starting June 4, 2018, 6am-8:30 am at McClure Pool

             PM: M-F 4:15-6:15 pm at Union Pool.

Starting June 4th  6pm-8pm at the McClure Park Pool
 

Blue Team - Competitive swimmers ages 9-12
Coached by Misa Eudey and Quincy (Howell) Knutson

Graduates of SwimTulsa's White Team and/or experienced competitive swimmers who are ages 9-12 are eligible for this group. Coach approval is required. This training group focuses on further development of competitive swimming skills in a challenging and fun environment. 

NOTE: Swimmers on white team who advance to blue team must have achieved THREE 10 and under age group Oklahoma Age Group (OAG) state competition time standards in THREE DIFFERENT STROKES at a swim meet. Once the required standard has been met, swimmers will move up at the start of a new month for billing purposes. Attendance: Blue team swimmers are to swim a minimum of 7 practices every 2 weeks during the school year and may add up to 2 additional long course practices per week during the summer.
 

Competition: Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming. Swimmers strive to be successful in all events offered in their age group, work to establish and improve their IMX scores and to earn the SwimTulsa Competitor Trophy each season by participating in a schedule of meets.

Long Course Season, April-Mid August: 
            AM: M-F 7:00 am-8:30 am at Union Pool; Saturdays (8am-9:30am) as announced.

Starting June 4th 7:30am- 9am at McClure Park Pool


            PM: M-F 6:15 pm-7:45 pm at Union Pool.

Starting June 4th 7pm-8:30pm at the McClure Park Pool

 

White Team - Novice Swimmers ages 7 and up

Graduates of SwimAmericaTM Station 7 or new swimmers who can swim a legal 25 meters of all four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, and freestyle) are eligible for this group.  This training group focuses on improving stroke technique, learning starts and turns, and understanding competitive swimming.

 

Attendance:  White team swimmers should practice 2-3 times per week to be competition ready.

Competition:   Swimmers in this group are competing members of USA Swimming and should compete every 6-8 weeks as their schedules permit.

Short Course Season, Mid August - End of March:

  • Monday-Friday, 6:55-7:45 pm at Union Pool

Long Course Season, April-Mid August

  • Monday-Friday, 6:55-7:45 pm at Union Pool

Starting June 4th:  AM Practice-8-9 am and PM Practice-7-8 pm at the McClure Park Pool (7440 E. 7th St., Tulsa, OK)
