Webmaster Report, House of Delegates, 2004.

I would like to report on the progress of the projects I outlined to the House last year, the HOD 2003.At the time, I made a presentation showing software that I thought would be a benefit to the LSC in terms of functionality.

To make a long story short, the representative of our provider, Kent Schroeder, failed to live up to his promises.Over the course of the year, scores of emails have been exchanged, and never did he follow up on any of them without being prompted.

My solution is now to put the website revamp on hold for the time being. When I recently gave up on Kent, I researched what it would cost MSI to switch to a better and more responsive provider.I discovered that for the money we are paying now, we could not get the same amount of site-space (information capacity) for less that 150%.Our current website is functional, and I still intend to implement the changes I proposed when a better solution can be found.

As always, I encourage you to give me your feedback on the site: what works, what doesnt work, what is easy, and what is not.I try to make the pages as intuitive as possible in the current design, but I realize my perspective is not always as intuitive for others.I simply cannot make improvements without these suggestions.

A few of the more recent improvements:

Meet folders which contain pre- and post- meet information all in the same place

Sub-headings for each major category page (Admin, Athletes, Meets, etc.) takes you directly to that part of the page.

Athlete page. Please encourage your club membership to submit pictures, articles about swimmers, anything that might be of interest to swimmers reading the pages.

Respectfully submitted,

Matt Brown
