Swim-A-Thon Overview - How it works:

1.   Collect Addresses: Start collecting your list of people you will ask to be a sponsor. Bring your list of names and addresses to the letter writing party or start addressing letters on your own right now.

2.   Attend Swim-A-Thon Letter Writing Kick Off Party: Saturday, March 17, 2007 at Mill Creek Middle School Cafeteria in Kent. Have a fun time writing sponsor letters (see number 3 below) while eating food and drinks.

3.   Write Sponsor Letters: King Aquatic Club will supply the Swim-A-Thon form letters that the swimmer completes with the name of the potential sponsor and the name of the swimmer. King Aquatic Club will also provide two envelopes: a mailing envelope, which the swimmer addresses to the sponsor; and a return envelope pre-addressed to King Aquatic Club. The form letter is also available at the King Aquatic Club Swim-A-Thon webpage. At the Letter Writing Party, King Aquatic Club will provide postage for mailing the sponsor letters. After the letter writing party, swimmers must provide the postage. But, keep writing sponsor letters until the Swim-A-Thon swim!

4.   Email: You can also use email to send requests to sponsors. Just download the Sponsor Letter (PDF version) from the Swim-A-Thon section in the King Aquatic Club website and attach the PDF file with your email to your sponsor.

5.   Pick up a Swim-A-Thon pledge packet from your pool representative. Start collecting pledges from your neighbors, teachers, and businesses. Even if you mailed the pledge letter, you can also earn additional pledges from potential sponsors who you do not have addresses for. All you need to do is go up to someone ask if they will sponsor you for this years Swim-A-Thon.

6.   Swim: Swimmer completes a maximum of 200 lengths at the Swim-A-Thon to be held during the week of April 16 through April 21, 2007. The locations will be announced by your coach and posted in the KING website. Each swimmer's coach will determine an appropriate goal for the swimmer.
