New England Swimming Board Meeting
Community Center, Wellesley, Massachusetts
September 17, 2002
Board Members Present:� Bruce Mohl, Kathy Dacey, Fred Catalano, Marjorie Blackwell, Dave
LeBlanc, Bill Geary, Laura Matuzack. �Guests:� Mary Riddell, Rick Osterberg, Harold Whitney, Bob Gauvin.
All
actions by the New England Board at this meeting will be subject to
ratification by the Board at the October, 2002 meeting as a quorum is not
present.
Secretary�s Report:� Kathy Dacey.� Minutes
accepted with revisions.�
Treasurer�s Report:� Marjorie Blackwell. Checking: $18,277.45; Money Market: $108,448.42
Calendar Committee:� Sectionals, 2003, will conflict with NE
Seniors.� Pam Warner will meet with
members of the Calendar Committee to discuss this conflict.� Laura Matuzack will speak with Pam Warner
about polling coaching regarding this scheduling conflict.
Swimposium:� Registration has been excellent:�
Currently there are 217 people scheduled to attend some/all of the
events.� There are:� 69 12 & U�s (classroom needed), 31
parents (of 12 & U), 26 13 & Overs, 12 parents (of 13 & O), 21
coaches, 4 safety attendees, 42 officials - with 10 clubs represented.�
Technical Committee:� Will wait for a quorum to be present.
Banquet:� Jenny Thompson and Chris Thompson are not able to be the guest
speaker.� Ryan Berube will be contacted.
USA Swimming National
Convention:� Highlights from Convention include:� the dues increase as proposed passed; the
governance study was heavily discussed; 2005 Junior National Championships were
added, summer only, following Senior Nationals.
Officials:� Bill Geary is pleased to report that there are a large number of
officials scheduled to attend the Swimposium; an additional clinic will be held
in Exeter, N.H. in October.
Coaches Report:� The Attleboro Bluefish coaches are the NE Coaches of the
Year.�
Website:� Mary Riddell has her new computer up and running.� There may be a web committee meeting in
October.�
Note:� Check the website for the date of the next
meeting.� Mary Riddell will try to get
the building for October 8th, October 7th if that does not work.
