Secretary�s Report, Kathy Dacey (BGSC):Minutes from 4-12-05 were accepted with no changes.

 

Treasurer�s Report, Carol Healey (SAC):as of 6/5/05:

Reimbursements, Mary Riddell (NE SWIM):Reimbursements were granted according to the reimbursement list of current requests as presented by Mary Riddell, (NE SWIM).Motion made to pass these reimbursements made by Priscilla Davis, 2nd by Laura Matuszak, motion passes.

 

Appointments to the Board, Ray Grant (SSA):Chairman Ray Grant nominated the following members of the New England Swimming community to at-large positions on the Board:Ev Crosscup (BAT, Kevin Tyrell (YNS), Pam Warner (UN-NE), Scott Doty (PSC), and Mariella Allard (UN-NE).Motion made to accept these nominations by Bob Gauvin (SCA), second by Kathy Dacey (BGSC), motion passes.Matt Craven (SAC) is the new Junior Coach�s representative.

 

Calendar Committee, Bob Gauvin (SCA):Calendar Committee Chairman Bob Gauvin (SCA) announced the following end of season meet schedule for the 2005-2006 short course season:

February 17-19 � Regionals

February 23-26 � Free weekend

March 2-5 � 12 & Unders

March 9-12 � NE Open

 

After some discussion, a motion was made, seconded and passed to accept the following calendar:

����������� March 2-5 � 13-19 Age Group Championships

����������� March 9-12 � Speedo Championship Series (Sectionals), Harvard

The Board then had a lengthy discussion regarding the organizational structure of the calendar.Discussion regarding the potential for a NE Senior meet to be held in December, a full 3.5 day meet, trials and finals, December 8,9,10,11.Motion made to schedule this meet by Dave LeBlanc (YNS), 2nd by Michelle Bernal (BGSC), motion passes.

 

Bob Gauvin (SCA) requested that the bid date for the short course season be moved to July 29, 2005.All end of season Championship bids will be posted on the NE Swimming website as they are received so to that all in New England can see which venues are being bid on.

 

Distance Camps, Carlton Cronin:The following dates are announced as New England sponsored Distance Camps:September 9,10,11; October 7,8,9; and November 11, 12, 13.The swimmers will be at the camp for approximately 48 hours.The camps will run with a minimum of 15 swimmers per session, a maximum of 45, and the goal is 30 per session.The cost is $200 per session, with 3 to a room, all meals provided, and transportation included.The webmaster is to add these events to the NE Calendar.

 

Banquet, Mary Riddell (NE SWIM):The 2005 Banquet will be held on October 24, 2005.The Webmaster is to add this date to the NE Calendar.

 

Zone Meeting Report, Ray Grant (SSA) & Laura Matuszak (GMA):A task force is looking at the format for the spring meet, as Maryland and New England have opted out of the spring meet.Laura Matuszak (GMA) is the NE representative for this committee.

 

The spring meet has been bid on by the Metropolitan Swimming LSC, with the meet to be held at the Goodwill Games Pool in East Meadow/Hempstead, New York.

 

Cori checks will be done on all chaperones attending the Zone meet this summer, reports to be sent to Mary Riddell (NE SWIM) at the office.Laura Matuszak (GMA) suggests that Zone team members can be rewarded with the opportunity to work at the Super Sectional Meet scheduled to be held at Harvard.

 

Coach�s Representative, Michelle Bernal (BGSC):Lengthy discussion regarding a format for encouraging coaches to prepare in advance for the coach�s meeting at the Annual Meeting.Also, it is suggested that positing information for selecting �Coach of the Year� on the website and in the Newsletter will increase participation.

 

The webmaster is to post the date for the Coach�s Meeting at 12 & Unders and NE Open NOW so all coaches are aware of the date and should attend.

 

United States Swimming Annual Convention, Ray Grant (SSA):Currently the following people are slated to attend the National Convention in the fall:Ray Grant, Bob Gauvin, Laura Matuszak, Mike Parratto, Michelle Bernal, and Ray Grant, Jr.Priscilla Davis and Mary Riddell may be attending to go to their respective workshops.Rosemarie Meissner (MAG) who handles all of New England�s SWIMS-related issues may also attend.

 

Swimposium:Discussion regarding the potential to get another Swimposium to New England, as the first one was a great success.Unfortunately, US Swimming has exhausted it�s funding for this event.We will try to get one here in 2006, when the funding is available, at that time, all new clubs must attend.There will be a Swimposium on June 26, 2005 in Schenectady, New York; otherwise a new club must travel to New Jersey or Virginia.

 

Athlete�s Report, Ray Grant, Jr. (SSA): A number of applications for Junior Athlete�s Representative have been sent in, they will be voted on at the July 19, 2005 meeting.

 

Official�s Report, Scott Doty (PSC) & Dave LeBlanc (YNS):See attached proposed polity sheet.Lengthy discussion followed regarding the proposed policy sheet.Dan Warner (NSSC) wants a provision included to protect participation in a meet by the host team�s officials, and as the meet director, wants to be able to select the meet referee.Motion made to accept the proposal with these amendments made by Bob Gauvin (SCA), 2nd by Matt Craven (SAC), motion passes.

 

Other Business:Michelle Bernal (BGSC) would like to add a NE Senior Coach of the Year Award.Laura Matuszak commented that US Swimming is looking to have more FUN meets put into the schedule; Kerri Cunningham (RAMS) is working on this.
