accept all of the reimbursement requests on the Reimbursement sheet dated
Calendar Committee, Bob Gauvin (SCA):� To date there have been 59 bids for meets, 57 short course, 2 long course.� 40 specialty meets, 5 prelims & finals format, 2 pentathlons, one relay carnival.� Both 12 & Unders and 13 & Overs meets which had been previously bid on have fallen through, and they are now back on the calendar ready to be open for additional bids.�
Zone Meet, Sherry Wingfield (HRY):� Sara Li (Mei�s Typhoon) had 7 1st place swims at the zone meet, and broke some meet records.� Lots of positive feedback from parents and swimmers alike, 55 swimmers attended with 6 chaperones.� Head Team Coach Sherry Wingfield (HRY) commented that the team behaved very well and the meet ran smoothly.� A wonderful time was had by all.�
Convention, Ray Grant (SSA):� The biggest item on the horizon for discussion at the United States Aquatics Sports/United States Swimming Annual Convention is R25 which covers LSC Financial Reporting Requirements.� More on this following convention.�
Banquet, Bob Gauvin (SCA):� Olympic swimmer Neil Walker will be the speaker.� Note to be made that they are changing the way the annual Top 10 books are done.� Observed swims are no longer eligible for inclusion.� The books are eliminated � the information will be available on-line.�� The clinic which will be held the day before still has some spots available.
Athlete�s Representatives, Ben Daus-Haberle (ABF) & Clare Foster (SAC):� Welcome to Clare Foster (SAC), the new Junior Athlete Representative.
Coach�s Representatives Sherry Wingfield (HRY) and Leandra Manos (BSSC):� There has been low attendance at recent coach�s meetings, which is a sure sign that everyone is extraordinarily happy with how things are going.
Official�s Report,
Scott Doty (PSC):� Scott Doty (PSC)
attended the Official�s Chair meeting held recently in
Other Business:� Tim Murphy (HARV) is planning on bidding on Sectionals for 2009; the only question is what the best weekend is in March.
Matt Craven (SAC):� The Age Group time standards are ready.�� Ray Grant (SSA) will work on a disclaimer to be put out if facilities cannot support the published time standards and the number of swims needs to be reduced.�
Carol Healey (SAC):� Commented that the New England Senior Meet which is scheduled for December must have the information published almost immediately, particularly if the meet is going to be open for out of district teams.� As the meet is being held at Harvard, a request has been made to Tim Murphy (HARV) and Josh Stern (BOSS) to send this information forthwith to the Webmaster.
Mary Riddell (NE-OFFICE):�
The first of October Mariella Allard (UN-NE) will be attending a
�Running Meets� seminar hosted by United States Swimming out in Colorado
Springs.�
The Golden Goggles event, the annual celebration of United States Swimming, and the premier fund raising event for USS, is scheduled for November.� Tickets are $8,000.00 per table.� See Mary Riddell (NE-OFFICE) for more details.
SWIMS is now allowing college meets to be part of the records.� The cost will be absorbed by all concerned.� LSC could potentially now charge for observed swims.
Priscilla Davis (UN-NE):� there is now a new way to do safety training, it will be available on-line.� Water certification can then be done through your local WSI or lifeguard instructor.� A safety training instructor is no longer required.� This will make certification much easier for interested parties.
The next meeting of New England Swimming will be held on
Chairman Ray Grant (SSA):� Thanked Scott Doty (PSC) for his years of work as the Official�s Chairman.� The group is strong and healthy due to the hard work and dedicated hours of volunteers such as Scott.
There will be some appointments for various positions on committees (Age-Group, Senior and Technical) which do not require Board approval.� Announcements will be made as to who is on these committees at the October meeting and should be posted on the website.�
Nominations for the At-Large members of the Board are:� Mariella Allard (UN-NE), Pam Warner (UN-NE), Tim Murphy (HARV), Bob Menke (Officials) and Mike Parratto (SSA).� Motion made to accept these nominations by Scott Doty (PSC), second by Laura Matuszak (GMA), motion passes.
