Osprey Aquatics FAQ

Questions About Our Web Site

How can I make a suggestion for the web site, for the coaches?

Suggestions for the web site should be directed to the webmaster. Suggestions for coaches can be emailed to coaches name@ospreyaquatics.com.

If I think there is a problem with the web site, who do I contact?

Please contact our webmaster or team president. Note that simple issues like changing the spelling of an athlete's name can be done immediately while questions about an athlete's times may take longer since we may need to do additional research before authorizing a change to an athletes time. In general the times shown on the reports and on the Pac Swim site are the official times and are not subject to change.

How do I become a team sponsor for the web site?

Advertising space is available on the web site through Team Unify, the company that hosts this site. To find out how to become a sponsor, click on the red "Advertise Here!" button on the left side of any page with a web site menu.

Why is there a delay in posting the times on our web site?

Our stated goal is to post the meet results on our web site within 48 hours of the meet. However, there are things that can go wrong and prevent us from achieving this goal. Most often this is a result of the data not being immediately available in electronic format. After most meets we provide the host team with a diskette onto which the export the meet results. If for some reason that doesn't happen we have to wait until the data is available on the Pac swim site or have it emailed to us.

There can also be a slow down if either our esteemed web master or team statistician are on vacation or otherwise unavailable. Once in a very rare occasion we cannot get electronic data at all and then we need to enter times by hand, which is slow and tedious. Typically we do leave the meet with a hard copy of the meet results and the team president will typically have the information at hand, if it is needed. You can also check the Pac swim web site - http://www.pacswim.org and often download reports directly from there.

What do the various fields on the reports mean?

Many of the fields are very self explanatory and on most reports you should expect to find fields like the athletes name, age, event, date of meet, date of report, time(s) their US Swimming ID, the date of the meet or a particular swim, their time, a letter designation for the swim, B, A, AA, Q, etc., the swimmers birthday, etc.

On meet reports you will also find the type of pool, LC = Long Course (meters), SC = Short Course (yards), the name of the meet, the date of the meet and its location, there may also be a letter designation indicating whether the athlete swam a particular time in the Final (F) or in the Preliminaries (P)

What if I can't find my swimmers times on the reports?

Please notify our web master or our team president immediately and give us as many details (date of meet, event, etc.) about the discrepancy as possible.

Where can I find out more on swim timing or swimming in general?

There are several resources listed on the Osprey web site on the Links page, but www.pacswim.org, which is the web site for our governing body, is a great place to start.
